Yeah, this is kind of the funny part. If you go to any college sports message board in the country, this is easily the hottest topic out there right now....but hawk fans that are interested are simply interested in the demise of the Big 12 to watch ISU suffer....it has nothing to do with this being an unprecedented period of activity in the history of college athletics.

Then why r u on an isu board brainiac? Take your 'fascination' somewhere else.

A&M's response to T. Boone Pickens:

Have to think A&M is out. Unless the SEC presidents band together and hold up their gentleman's agreement, worst case for the SEC is A&M and Louisville to get to 14. Have to imagine that if Big 12 survives and Mizzou says no, West Virginia will quickly be back on the SEC radar unless the Big 12 gets to them first.

I really hope that cooler heads prevail and the Big 12 stays together. Still skeptical that UT will agree to equal revenue sharing. I think they shoot themselves in the foot with this one and are left independent. No way that the Pac 12 Presidents agree to let them in unless they share equally. I, for one, am not horrified by a new conference. May take some time to get our revenue at where it would be if the Big 12 were held together, but will not be worse than what we are used to. Time will only tell.

I wonder how much productivity has been lost over the past month due to all of these random tweets by people who have not even been close with predicting anything.

Does anyone think, based on OU reports, that it was just posturing for a change within the BXII but that it went too far when the Big East ended up being destabilized as a result?

And if that's the case, does the Big East try to sue the Big 12/OU for some kind of damages if OU stays and doesn't go to the Pac-12?

So when the dust settles, if Hawaii is in the same conference as South Florida would a layover in Japan or LA be the cheaper airline ticket?

At first glance I doubt that would be a workable case. The members who left and the ACC are much more culpable and likely to receive legal attention.

MT @vgregorian: SEC's Charles Bloom in phone interview: "The SEC has not extended an invitation to any school beyond Texas A&M ... "

Of course, not an official one at least. Thats not how these things work. School applies for admission (usually with behind the scenes assurances they'd be accepted), conference decides whether to accept and send a formal invitation.

My guess: MU has those behind the scenes assurances that theyd be accepted if they were to apply. There's no formal invitation, but the assurances effectively make it an invite to the SEC.

This is getting old. Lets just divide the county up in 6 sections and call them conferences.
