You sound like a Hok fan when you blame the officials for a team's poor performance. Isn't that right, Franny?

If a hawk said the world was round, would you disagree with it? I sometimes get the feeling a good number on this site would.

Has nothing to do with beating them or not. If we were winning by 50 every year i'd still say we shouldnt be playing @UNI or @Drake every other year.

Why? Rather play 2 more Prairie View A&M's? No wait, shouldnt be playing UNI because its a "no win situation". Give me a break.

Wow, we are scared to play at UNI? This thread is pathetic.

I'm disgusted reading all these bull crap posts with excuses about the refs. Get over it. We should be so much better than UNI that the refs don't even matter.

UNI is currently the premier team in the state for basketball. Quit your whining.

Let's start by just eliminating playing at Drake. I would LOVE to hear someone defend the practice of playing a home and home with a mid major private school!!!

No, we play uni and drake. But in ames, at hilton.

If they wont accept that (a deal that is still better for them than not playing at all), then there are a lot of teams down the list we can go to before we drop all the way to PVAM. Or if we're going to be stuck with a home-home, we can use it to play a variety of teams more interesting than UNI. Maybe add in Minnesota or something.

If you want to be a big time program you have to act like one. We've sunk in to this hole where some of you don't even view us on the same level as BCS schools. Playing home and home with mid-majors is rediculous, even if it is tradition. I don't mind playing them every year but they come at a terrible value for our basketball program. We win because we should and it doesn't help us but when we lose it is terrible if we are a bubble team for the tourney. Rag on me however much you want that we should beat them every year and that I am "afraid." Well the fact is that we don't beat them every year and maybe it is because we play them home and home. I'm all for giving ISU the advantage at having the best record at the end of the season. If we're going to feel sorry for other schools we might as well sit in the cellar like we have been the past few years.

I'm sick of idiots calling it 'scared' to play someone whenever someone talks about how we should schedule in the most advantageous way for ISU. This goes for basketball and football.

****, lets line up LSU and Alabama for our 2 open football slots with iowa from now on. Or are we 'scared'? Or maybe we should play @UNI in football (or are we 'scared'). Sure, we cant fit everyone there, but look at drake's high school gym.

No, its called smart scheduling. Major conference programs dont usually give ongoing home and home series to midmajors. Period. We're throwing away money (and games that might draw tickets) by doing it. We shouldnt be subsidizing these programs, we should be looking out for ISU.

This post has so much fail in it.

Pony up, and beat them at their house. You want us to run away from UNI.

If we were winning we wouldn't be saying "oh let's get more interesting teams on the schedule" blah blah blah. Face it, everyone is tired of losing at UNI. Don't be a pansie about it and run away. Embarrassing.

False. I dont care about UNI or Drake and never have. I wouldnt care much if cedar falls fell into a hole in the earth tomorrow. ( and on the other hand, nor would i celebrate it like i would if it happened to Iowa City)

There's no 'running away' from UNI. Only telling them that if they want to continue playing us, something that benefits them drastically more than it benefits us, it will be done on our turf.

I love these in-state games. And I love seeing them played at all 4 venues in the state. It's good basketball. We should be able to waltz into Cedar Falls and come away with a win 9 years out of 10. But we can't because they are better. So instead of dealing with it and improving ourselves, you want to run away. That is called being scared.

Maybe you're scared of them, i just would prefer to stop elevating a program by giving them a privilege that very few mid-majors get with major conference teams. You and others that agree with you do yourselves no help by insulting posters by calling them 'scared'.

As far as scheduling goes, I, and I'm sure the majority of sports fans, appreciate the way that LSU challenged themselves with that schedule this year. I admire the attitude that they have towards scheduling. Pretty much says "Bring it on".

When ISU is #1 in the country I will agree with you...

UNC plays at UNC Ashville.

USC plays at UC Riverside.

Florida State plays at UCF.

Indiana plays at Evansville.

Texas Tech played at Corpus Christie.

Are they all dumb for doing that?

Do you not want us to make a bowl game farminclone?

I do, and I think scheduling is different for football and basketball. Apples to Oranges. I was using the LSU football schedule as an example. I don't think we should model our football schedule after that.

I do think we should be able to play at our instate rivals house in bball and not complain about it.

I was just saying that mentaility is appreciated and admired by sports fans. Rather than the turn and run mentality people want with UNI and Drake.

Well it is comparing football to basketball. Did you look at LSU's schedule? They played Western Kentucky and Northwestern St. AT HOME. They played West Virginia away and Oregon at a neutral site. If anything that example proves that ISU should not play UNI or Drake. They play the low level teams AT HOME and the BCS teams with a home and home or a neutral site.

Nebraska football played at Wyoming this year. They should never do that according to your logic. And none of the teams I listed above should have scheduled those games either.
