Agreed, but expecting a freshman to come in and run point first year is asking a lot. I think he will play behind Sledge year 1 but should log in some good playing time.

More probably, he will play behind Long to start off with. But, they could both be on the court at the same time which is not a bad thing to have. Not sure about Samuel's/Long's shooting abilities though.

It is no longer unusual for top freshmen point guards like Samuel to start as freshman, especially when surrounded by quality upperclassmen.

Given Bubu is far ahead of Sledge, and has a higher upside, there is little chance it is Sledge he would play behind.

I like Bubu, but I can't agree that he has more upside.

Sledge had a proven work ethic before committing to us. Give him a year in the system, once he starts making better decisions on offense and works on team defense, we might see a big change in him.

What is the question?

I'm not sure I agree with any of that statement, but most of all, I'm wondering how you made those assumptions - which are three years down the road.

Although Samuel looks to be a top 50-type player, let's not forget he is a Jr. in HS right now. If we are doing a good job of recruiting in the classes ahead of him, there should be opportunity to watch and learn a bit (ie: not start). Unless we are recruiting "one and done" kids, this should be the case in most instances.

Thank you for a reasonable post.
