Never said it did. Why does everyone feel the need to be hammered out of their minds? If you want to do that great, but the rest of us shouldn't have to put up with you. I'm a guy that screams his head off at the games. I get yelled at to sit down for standing. I don't want a petting zoo, but you don't need alcohol to make it a hostile atmosphere for the visiting team. It's a scapegoat for most.

Selling beer in JTS doesn't automatically mean everyone would be hammered out of their minds. You are painting your argument with broad strokes. I am all for any extra revenue that ISU could bring in whether its 500,000 grand or 2 mil. I dont see any issues with this that currently are not there with people getting drunk. People are going to get hammered either way if they want too.

Yes. Making it easier to obtain isn't going to sober the collective crowd up.

Make it available in the stadium and then there is no need for folks to bong 5 beers immediately before going into the game and then hit the parking lot at halftime to bong additional beers.

The most heavily intoxicated fans are going to be in the student section and the majority of them will not be old enough to purchase beer in the stadium anyway. Let's get a grip on this idea that beer sales inside JTS is somehow going to make the gameday atmosphere look like a toga party straight out of Animal House. It won't. Period.

So you think the family section that you sit in will turn into a bunch of blathering drunken idiots if they sell $8 beers at JTS?

Do you come from that Footloose town?

Have you watched "Reefer Madness" one too many times? "Beer crazed abandon!" "Women cry for it, men die for it!"

I'm very nerdy and straight laced. I keep my belt buckle very tight mister.

Why do you present it as a decision between 'stone cold sober' fans or 'hammered out of their minds' fans. There is a middle ground there. Quite a few would like to be able to enjoy a beer or two during the game. That isnt 'hammered out of my mind'

I think that's why this is such a tough issue (for me anyway). 95% of the people in that staduim would be fine (47,500), it's the other 5% (2,500) that will be lined up 10 deep pounding beers and being *** holes.

Being able to purchase beer in Jack Trice isn't going to stop anyone from bonging 5 beers in the parking lot. It's going to allow wasted kid who just bonged 5 beers in the parking lot to buy a beer once he gets into the stadium, because at that point money is no object and the beer vendor is much more convenient.

Coincidentallly the last time I bonged a beer was in the parking lot of Arrowhead, which luckily for me serves beer and takes credit cards.

These people are already being *** holes at games. But they're sneaking their booze in so not only are they being **** heads, but the university isn't making any money off of it.

They just have to deal with the idiots. Why not turn a profit in the process?

The people who insist on getting absolutely hammered and/or being obnoxious are going to do it whether we sell beer or not. All we're doing is leaving money the table.

That wasted kid is already sneaking in hard liquor. Trust me, I was that guy in college. If your theory about him being able to buy beer is correct, then he's probably getting less drunk throughout the game if he was just drinking beer.

I doubt I'd ever buy a sure to be overpriced beer once I'm in the gate at JTS, so I don't really have a dog in this fight, but this absolutely the case. You'd have the same amount of drunk idiots, just less people sneaking it in or making sure they get in their 1-2 last beers before coming in.

I just don't think that 500k is worth it for the hassle and potential liability for ISU. I was also this kid, and another beer was the last thing that I generally needed. However, if someone was selling it nearby, I was definitely going to buy it even it it cost $10.

I don't buy that selling beer inside JT will reduce the amount consumed as a whole. The kid sneaking a flask in is nearly impossible to stop, catch, or control so I think they're a different animal altogether. If they're sneaking it in they're going to drink/share that first and once that's gone they'll be #1 in line for the $8 beers.

I just think ISU can do better and once you open this box, you can't close it.

I don't know man, 2,500 people buying 10 beers a pop at $7 is $175,000 per game. 7 home games makes $1,225,000. And those are just the *** holes!!

Sounds good to me!!

source = prez or JP?

Also, did they have reasoning against it?

I asked JP this question a few weeks ago at Johnnys and he said, " not on my watch, absolutely not while i'm here". Reason being the amount of reports about and i quote "Knockleheads now" and does not want more.

So i did reply well that sucks, will have to keep sticking beers in my socks. Anyway CyAggie was part of this discusion

So basically end of beer thread............................................................................

I read the first page, which was mostly SEZ posts with a few random ones about bobcats. I skip to the last page, and every single post is about selling beer at JTS.

The internet is awesome.

The fact that so many other arenas do it successfully should lean ISU toward doing it.

Exactly. No other football stadium that has implemented beer sales has reported any remarkable increase in drunk obnoxious fans needing to get kicked out than already happens.

1) Most college students are poor and would still choose to sneak alcohol in rather than buy $8 beers. These people are going to drink inside the stadium either way.

2) The rest of the fans in the stadium will be the ones who might partake in a couple of beers during the game. Again, this isn't going to turn JTS into a crowd any different than it already is.

ISU needs the revenue. ISU needs beer sales.

A Letter to Tiger Nation - MUTIGERS.COM - The University of Missouri Official Athletic Site

SEC lovers are ending their reentry policy:

No Pass Outs - In the past, our fans have been able to enter the stadium for the game, exit during the game and re-enter the game. That will not be possible in 2012 and beyond. There will be no "pass-outs" allowed beginning 2012. Once our fans enter the game, they will need to stay in the stadium throughout the contest. If they exit, they will not be allowed to re-enter.

Goshow wasn't available this afternoon, so we had to find something else to get our collective panties in a bunch. I've effectively killed an otherwise un-eventful afternoon.
