Look at the lack of excitement within the fan base, or just on this board. Couple that with how we have looked at Nationals yesterday and today, and I can see he just isn't getting it done. It's better to cut our losses now before we hit total rock bottom!

There is much less chatter than usual on this site about the NCAA championships. Some of that has to do with the success of the basketball program - people are tuned into that rather than wrestling, and for good reason. But the larger part of it is that the team has just had a terrible showing this year. I thought we were seeing improvement as the year wore on, but any marginal improvement has been wiped out, and we may have even regressed, at Big 12's and now at NCAA's.

Guessing he gets 1 more season and a lot of improvement better be shown or he will be gone.

He will coach until the end of his contract. Boosters are not going to help buy out the wrestling coach. Not enough of them to care. So if his contract runs one more season. Then he probably will be let go. However, if he has 2 years left he will be givin 2 years.

Certainly next year should be better no matter what. This year was a pit hole. Like blowing your engine on the 20th lap at Daytona.

Not gonna lie, I paid attention to Iowa State wrestling until it turned ugly. I'm not a bandwagoner because I love all things Iowa State, but I just kind of stopped paying attention to the program once it started turning ugly.

I do hope the best for the program. And I know Pollard will do what's right.

Oh, and we used to get 5K per home dual meet so I'm going to go ahead and say a lot of people.
Yeah, but Harold Nichols has been retired for quite a while, so why blame that on KJ?

Frankly, as more and more schools drop the sport, wrestling has become less and less relevant. You might want to think about that.

Bingo!

It was ugly all year. Last year was ugly, but not across the board.

I paid attention all year and became more and more disgusted with the results. I joined the Wrestling Club for the first time.

JP will do what's best. Leath understands the importance of sports in the overall scheme of fund raising. We'll learn the fate of the team when we least expect it. That's JP's style.

Ummm...no...we had that many fans at meets just 3-4 years ago. I won't even dignify the rest of your post with a response.

The only way Jackson doesn't get another year is if recruits and current wrestlers start defecting. The past two years have laid the groundwork for a return to the podium. Anyone who thinks that next year won't be a huge positive change isn't paying attention or is too wrapped up in this weekend to think without emotion getting in the way.

You posted a projection for next year. Even though you're an unapologetic optimist you came up with one AA and it is from a kid who hasn't even wrestled a collegiate match. That doesn't seem very huge to me.

I had a minimum of three AAs in that projection. McCauley, Spangler, and Gibson. Are you even trying?

I am not a total optimist, I very much think there needs to be changes made. I am just not in total meltdown mode like you are.

35th, tooooo many teams ahead of us. It hurts that a Iowa study takes va tech to 11 and I find myself rooting for Iowa to take down p state. 1 more year, it will not make a difference as we are already at rock bottom.

Did we end up like 35 out of 65 teams? Can someone confirm?

I don't necessarily disagree with your analysis. And as a reader, I appreciate all the work you put into your predictions. I hope we see you back here next year.

But one of the thinks that chews at me is that we seemed to underperform, especially when it counted at the conference champs and the NCAAs. I know injuries played a role, a big role, but however it happened, we never seemed to grab the brass ring. that has really got to change for me to be happy with the way forward.
