Is the girl Robb screwed in the last episode supposed to take the place of Jeyne Westerling? If so, what are the chances that the Red Wedding is scrapped and they do an alternative storyline? I really hope that is not the case because that chapter was series-altering.
The stuff I've heard from David and Dan seems to indicate that there will be a red wedding. Those guys are huge fans of the source material and that's too huge of a plot point for them to take out. Will it go down just like in the books? Maybe, maybe not. But it will happen.

I watched the episodes a couple of weeks ago, and I agree that the whole thing is an amazing story.

So, because I saw the words in this thread, I googled "Red Wedding" and ended up reading part of the plot of book 3. That sounds amazing. I might have to read some novels.

If Robb ends up with any other girl than a Frey, there'll be a red wedding. The only missing point is Cat's brother dying father and the Riverrun storyline

The Red Wedding...is really going to tick off some of the TV only fans. Quite the shocker...but classic George RR Martin.

TV-Book Differences - Game Of Thrones Wiki Guide - IGN

Here is a link from IGN pointing out the differences between the book and the show, for those that are interested. They haven't strayed too far from the books yet, but the books get significantly longer after book 2 - that's going to be a big challenge for season 3.

Hopefully the link works - trying to post from my phone.
They plan to mix up the next three books as events occur roughly at same time.

No way... they can't do that. That would change the series in a major way.

I don't think swapping Jeyne for Talissa should have any impact on the Red Wedding. Jeyne was pretty much a non-character in the book; I think they just changed her to give some depth to Robb's love story and of course because the storyline was shown in the series and not in the book.

It's very similar to Arwen in LOTR. Something that's there but not a full character...making it a fleshed out character for a broader audience that will like the romance angle.

I do wonder why change the name/background though.

I was out of town on Sunday, but I watched the DVR of Blackwater last night. Wow. The wildfire explosion left me dumbfounded. Much badassery by Stannis, Tyrion and the Hound. Pod got his moment to save the day, too. How can this episode not win an Emmy or two?

I agree, caught it on Monday on DVR, that has to be the best TV battle ever, right? Very impressive. And great drama and acting all episode long by the entire cast.

I'm a huge fan of The National, and thought that was a great choice to sing The Rains of Castemere at the end of Episode 9. Very eerie.

Also, Bronn and Stannis are both badass in the TV series.

I like the new storyline for Robb, as I thought he was left out of Clash of Kings. The storyline I cannot wait to see play out is Sansa's. I was hoping in Dance with Dragons we'd hear about her, but did not. Going to be a long wait for that with two more books coming.

Great season and I thought that Bronn and Tyrion had great episodes.

IGN has a list(taken from Entertainment Weekly) of confirmed characters that will be in Season 3:

Mance Rayder: Former Night’s Watch member turned the Wildling “King Beyond the Wall.
Daario Naharis: Captain of the mercenary group, Stormcrows.
Jojen Reed; Meera Reed: A teenage brother and sister with connections to the Starks.
Edmure Tully: Catelyn Stark’s brother.
Ser Brynden Tully (The Blackfish): Catelyn Stark’s uncle.
Selyse Baratheon: Stannis Baratheon’s wife.
Shireen Baratheon: Stannis’ daughter.
Olenna Redwyne (The Queen of Thorns): Margaery Tyrell’s grandmother.
Beric Dondarrion: Leader of the guerrilla group Brotherhood Without Banners. [It's been pointed out in the comments that we actually did see Beric once in Season 1, played by David Michael Scott. It's not clear yet if Scott will reprise the role in Season 3 or a different actor will play the character.]
Thoros of Myr: A red priest.
Tormund Giantsbane: A Wildling raider.

So excited for so many of those!

Daario, the Reeds, Dondarrion! Start season 3 now!

Beric Dondarrion and the Red Priest are probably 2 of my favorite characters in the books so far (read through book 4). They are part of the coolest subplot for sure! The end of book 3 w/ the Red Wedding and the preface to book 4 is awesome!

I just finished Storm of Swords. Great stuff. Definitely did not expect all of those deaths. Not really sure what the heck is going to go on in Book 4 if the later ones are the ones that get more focused on the North.

Very cool how Tyrion character has evolved. From Season 1 you only hope he gets a few more one-liners in before someone cuts off his head but definitely turns into a lovable little dwarfy bastard.

Has anyone seen the SNL skit on GOT? HOWWWLLLarious!
