I still think Lousville is a quality add that makes geographic sense. We'll see what happens. :) Obviously you take Clemson & FSU first though if they are available.

I don't disagree with that.

And the most important factor, to me, is that they want to be in the Big 12.

Maybe not recently... but they play in friggin "Death Valley".

Plus their fans are good fans too... think Nebraska minus the titles, minus the increase in spousal abuse following losses, plus tailgating skills, plus humility.

I love the idea of adding Clemson.

I'm just rebutting the idea that we're bringing in some kind of powerhouse program that ISU can't compete with. The reality is that most years they're an ACC mid-packer. That's a team we can regularly hang with.

Yep. A mid-range performing team with an excellent fan-base and a good brand? Absolutely sign us up.

Isn't it amazing how certain schools like West Virginia have multiple people with insider information. It almost seems like either information leaks like crazy there or it intentionally leaks like crazy there (I'm thinking more the latter). Then, you've got a bunch of schools like ISU where absolutely NO information leaks. In fact, I can only think of a couple posts in the last few years period on either here or Cyclonereport where insider tidbit information was really posted at all and it was all pretty minor stuff. Obviously, JP keeps stuff close to the vest and while as a messageboarder I want all the information I can get (pretty much gossip is what it is), you've got to respect the professionalism of JP in keeping stuff tight lipped.

Coal union connections and & financially backed politicians. Just a theory. God I love this thread...

Yikes...anyone seen the divisions the new insider "eerlaw" posted? Says OU is ok going to the East and spells out the following:

OU
OSU
FSU
WVU
Clemson
ISU

UT
Tech
Baylor
TCU
KU
KSU

Brutal division for ISU if true.

That would be about as enjoyable as sticking your crank in a blender.

I think you would definately Swap ISU for one of the Texas schools in the scenario. FSU is going to want guaranteed games in the state of Texas.

Also, at that point, its time to ditch geographic division names.

Where is HFCS and his novel length replies to ever post? (Just flipping you crap dude)

That Mega thread post count stat sheet they pulled out was BS. I'm positive I lead this thread in actual posts about realignment and not posts about post counts.:twitcy:

To be honest the past week is the most quiet and frustrating since the post TCU/WVU expansion talk ramped up.

LOL that's the "Best football programs besides Texas plus Iowa State" division. We can have those divisions but only if we name our division that.

Agree. Not only will FSU want games in Texas, but all teams will. The best scenario for us, in regards to recruiting, is at least one Texas school plus FSU in our division.

Louisville makes sense. I would put them in when filling out to 16. FSU, Clemson, Gtech, ND, VTech, and NCState would be my preference. Chances are, however, you're not getting VTech and/or ND, which opens the door for Louisville.

Rebecacy was all over this last year. Had 99% accuracy, as I recall.

If we stick to 9 game schedule everyone will be in Texas A TON even if all four texas schools are in the same division.

Previously we played 5 division games and 3 out of division. That meant 3, 2 or 1 games against Texas teams a year and an average of just under one game IN Texas per year.

No we'd play 5 division and 4 out of division. Almost even. The least Texas you can ever get is two teams in Texas...I supposed you could have a year where you played both of them at home, but you'll have years both are in Texas if that's the case. Even if the 4 Texas schools are in the same division, there will be a schedule where a non Texas division school probably still plays 4 Texas teams.

I'm not a fan of the 9 game schedule AT ALL. But this is one area where it soothes every concern quite easily. It does the same for teams wanting FSU on the schedule. Even if FSU isn't in your division you play them 2/3 of the years now instead of 1/2 of the years with an 8 game 12 team league.

Not sure if anyone has seen this yet. Scout.com: Game Changer

Basically insider saying, fox will renegotiate 2nd tier contract, extra 2.25 mil a team and add 3 years to contract if Clemson & FSU join up.....

I wonder if thats true if there will be "protected" out of division games, like the Red River Shootout?
Maybe the "eerlaw" posted something about that, I dunno, I didn't read it.

its time to ditch geographic division names.

Why? Because Leaders & Legends sounds so brilliant? Why over think it?

East/West for Big 12 is completely unnecessary:

North:
ISU
KU
KSU
OKLAHOMA
OK STATE
WVU

South:
BAYLOR
CLEMSON
FSU
TEXAS
TCU
TX TECH

With a 9 game conference schedule you can set up cross division rivalries with two schools that you play every year (TX-OK, OK-FSU, WVU-CLEMSON, etc.), and rotate the other four. In this scenario, you're only missing two schools every two years and the 'Noles get to spend most of their time in Texas. Every other scenario I've seen looks ridiculous.

Nice find. This MHVer poster has been noted as being extremely reliable for inside info. He eventually states:

The FOX contract is proposing an additional 45 million is what is expected. FOX has agreed to renegotiate if/when FSU and Clemson join. The 13 year contract would be extended probably 3 more years if FSU and Clemson are added because Fox wants Marquee match-ups to try their hand at nationally televised Friday night games.
