Moderately heavy hang cleans and front squats for a couple of months and you'll be banging your head on the rim. My forehead looks like an old time professional wrestlers from the scars, LOL.

Don't you just bang your head on the rim from attempting to walk under it!?

and i'm not talking about one of these haha

one of my goals in working out and getting into shape is that i want to be able to dunk on a 10ft hoop. I'm 6'2" 185lbs and i've never been able to come close. the past few months i've really been working on my legs in hopes of dunking someday.

Start on a lower rim and work your way up. We spent a lot of time working on this in HS and it paid off. You need the right combination of height, jumping ability, timing and ball control; but if you suck at one of these it isn't going to happen. Note: Good shoes and a sticky floor will help on your first real dunk unless you're a freak, and I assume you're not.

Once you've acheived your goal, wait until your playing hoops with your friends to bust out your new talent, then break one off on your friend Mitch or Chet, you'll be a legend. Good luck.

I can dunk a basketball on a 10' hoop... However I can't really do it in a game aside from a fast break... If I don't have a straight shot at the rim I can't do it.

I could when young. 6'3" 215 lbs. I am 39 now though, and it hurts my knees just even thinking about trying to dunk a ball.

Helps if you're 6'-7" and jump like a deer.

6'4" and maybe gotten 2 dunks to ever work the way I wanted it too.
I don't play basketball either so that probably doesn't help.

6'4 215, and as you might guess, can dunk easily. My goal, though I'm not sure if it's ever gonna happen at this point, is to alley-oop dunk in a game.

My tips? I reiterate what one of the posters said above about doing hang cleans and squats. That will build the muscle you need. You also need to practice actually jumping and attempting to dunk to learn the technique/timing. If you can find a short rim, practice on that. If not, just keep jumping at a normal rim like you are trying to dunk and add the ball as necessary. Also, stretching your hamstrings helps. Dunking has lost it's novelty for me, but I still remember the first time I did it. It's like joining a special club :)

Im 6'3 and weigh 195 and dunk with one or two hands. Can't stand under the hoop and go straight up and do it but I've gotten some alley-oops down before. Not really a great athlete, i just have a freakish wing span and have been able to palm a ball since 8th grade.

I could in college at 6'1 297. After fb my sr year I got tendonitis in my knees playing bball and stayed away from the ol' roundball for a few years.
Go figure at age 31 and 240pounds I can only get the bottom of the backboard, but I'm sure I run 12.4 miles now faster than I could have then.

I'm 6'-5" 250 and 29 years old. I could dunk a volleyball in college. But sophomore/junior year was probably the last time I tried. Bet it wouldn't happen now . . .

6'3" 165, could vertical two hand though it's been a couple years since I've tried. It's hard for me to palm off the dribble for a men's ball but my Park and Rec team scrimmaged the girl's varsity team when I was in high school and I could throw the women's ball down all day.
