TV Shows You Cannot Stand

For almost 10 years now I have avoided most television, mainly because of the rise of reality tv, which is strange why they call it that, because I relate to the cast of Cheers better than I do with anything considered reality. The rest of the shows I can't hate because I've never seen them.

With that said, I hate Seinfeld.

Also, any ethnic cooking show on Food Network where the host speaks with a non-regional diction until she comes across words from another language, and then totally overemphasizes them. No, Giadda. Its spuh-getty, not spee-gay-tee.

This! I was just having this discussion with a friend last night.

Any of those pointless Real Housewives shows or the even more pointless spinoffs of them. Big Bang Theory. Bachelor/Bachelorette. Big Brother (never actually seen an episode but the premise of the show and the commercials for it make me feel like I would hate it). Survivor. Glee.

I hate all cop shows (except for The Shield), all lawyer shows, all hospital shows and all reality TV. Doesn't leave much except for sports and a couple of sitcoms. I do like Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother, so go ahead and ignore if necessary.

Basically anything on Bravo (Real Housewives, Millionaire Matchmaker, etc). I really can't even watch Top Chef anymore.

Pretty much if my wife watches it, I can't stand it. She watches 16 and Pregnant. TV doesn't get any more pathetic than that.

Number 1 is MTV - its a joke now. All music channels that have reality shows on them.... Show more on "reality" if that is what you want to call it. I call it fakality, no one goes to bed in a $400.00 swim suit or even goes to bed and wakes up and the hair is not messed up.

A lot of these shows people bring up make me wonder how in the world I didn't include them in the first place. MTV has no right being called "music" television anymore.

I'm realizing just how much tv I actually hate

All of the very fake reality shows on networks like History and Discovery. Pawn Stars, American Pickers, Swamp People, Storage Wars, and all the other shows like these are obviously very scripted and yet somehow people still watch them.
Two and a Half Men and everything else on CBS is garbage as well. That channel obviously tries to capture the 50-dead audience.

Shows (outside of sports) I do like:

The New Girl
Grimm - kind of different, but I think that's why I like it
Up All Night is ok - sometimes funny
Colbert Report
John Stewart
Just about any HBO or Showtime series like Game of Thrones and Spartacus. the GF likes TrueBlood - I can tolerate that.
Just about anything on the History, Discovery, or Nat Geo Channels.

I can't wait until streaming media becomes more all-inclusive. I got a Roku box almost a year ago and love it. At the same time I canceled cable, and reduced my monthly expenditures on "media" by about $50. Obviously I miss out on some sports (luckily, my internet provider carries ESPN3, so I stream that A LOT) and we borrow HBO & Showtime series from friends.

People who say they hate cop shows, have you ever seen the wire? One of the best shows ever.

I think having so many bad shows on tv makes us appreciate the good ones that much better. Shows like Thrones, the Wire, the Shield, Lost, the Walking Dead or even comedies like It's Always Sunny or Trailer Park Boys shows how much of a difference having good writers makes.

Dont kid yourself if you think all "reality" tv shows are real. All of them have writers too. It's a shame that so many shows anymore seem to be thrown together without having a whole lot of thought put into it.

Agreed. I laugh everytime someone tries telling me that it's all real and that it's just a camera crew that follows these people around. Very scripted and the shows try to create fake drama all the time.

However I do find myself watching american pickers occasionally. Not because I think it's real but because the stuff they buy is interesting and they do a fairly good job of explaining the history of the items.

Here is my list of shows.

Dateline - especially the creepy white haired guy who talks so cheesy during his commentary
Big Bang Theory - possibly worst show I have ever seen, look up youtube video of it without it's laugh track, just shows how bad it is.
Any Lifetime Movie
Most ESPN talk shows
