TV Shows You Cannot Stand

I really like Big Bang theory. No offense to any of the haters, but I think that the more math/physics you've taken the funnier it is. As a grad student in a hard science, I find that the show hits a very genuine cord and that many of the science jokes are hilarious.

If you're not a big math/science guy and have never had any friends who are DEEP into sci-fi, I can see where the show would seem irritating.

I almost feel the opposite about Big Bang Theory. I like the show and it has its good moments, but half the jokes honestly show the writers' limited knowledge. For example, why is Wollowitz working at the university as an engineer with a masters? Engineers don't work for universities unless they are PhDs who are teaching and doing research. He does neither. To me, the harder they try to make it sound like these guys represent the real thing, the worse they are. It's better if they just stick to the stereotypes and make it clear they aren't thinking too deeply.

Also, if someone could ban the word "coitus" from the ****** I would really appreciate it.

Most anything on the "History" Channel, but especially Ancient Aliens. The sheer amount of intellectual and academic dishonesty it takes to produce such a show is mind-boggling. Pretty sure I nearly suffered a stroke while yelling at my television the first time I saw that show.

I think "Chasing UFO's" on the Nat Geo Channel might have taken UFO shows to a whole new level of absurd. Had to check it out to see if it was going to be as bad the promos. It is exponentially worse. Think a lot of Blair Witch mixed with the search for bigfoot with a little Ghost Hunters mixed in. Top off by a dangling story lines and tired old UFO sightings. Oh and the "eye" candy isn't even that good. Ed Wood even said it doesn't make sense. Nat Geo should be ashamed.

That being said I'm hooked just to see how bad it can actually get.

I pretty much cannot stand 90% + of the tv shows out there. Probably closer to 98% in all actuality. I will only watch: sports, (excluding golf, tennis, poker and NBA & MLB), showtime & hbo series (pretty much all of them, but I hated Hung), AMC & A&E series (walking dead, mad men, breaking bad), and the occasional documentary if it's well done, but I don't seek these out. Oh, and I actually do like big bang theory, but I've only ever seen old reruns. Leaves more television than I can watch with hbo and showtime constantly refreshing and alternating their seasons. Wish I could just buy those channels + a sports package.

I detest Bravo, talk shows, all reality tv etc.

I don't see how Bravo survives as a channel. Every show on that channel caters to the lowest possible intelligence.

I can't really stand television period. That goes for sports, news, drama, sitcoms, etc.

Big Bang Theory
Two and a half men
How I met your mother (Robin is an absolute babe though)

Couldn't agree more!

To this I'll add 95% of all shows on MTV, VH1, E!, and Lifetime....I leave a 5% margin of error because occasionally I'll catch a pretty outrageous episode of Wife Swap or True Life.

The copy shows of the originials. I don't mind Storage War, then came Storage Hunters and they are always arguing and drama, totally staged.

I also watched an early Pawn Star show and told my wife that the guy pawning off the old Coke machine is the brother of the guy on American Restoration. At the end of the show Rick (from Pawn Stars) brought the Coke machine to Rick (of American Restoration) to get it restored.

I wonder what percent of these things are staged.

The worst part about television today is that the best series get canceled. If they don't get canceled, network executives neuter the show by requiring that they lower the production cost per episode.

Take Human Target, for example. It was an incredibly good show in its first season. Fox made them cut costs, and made them add a female lead. The show was godawful turrible the second season and got canceled. I'm sure Fox said "See? It wasn't that good after all." No, Fox, you ****ed it up and destroyed the show. **** you Fox.

The series pilot for Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip sounded pretty damn accurate when it comes to the direction of network television.

Anything on TRU tv. Seriously how can anybody watch Lizard Lick Towing and Operation Repo ?
Anything that is considered "Reality TV"

I used to fool around with this one woman who watched all that crap. One day she was watching "Bethany getting Married" and I asked "Who the **** is Bethany" ? She told me she is one of the real housewives of New Jersey (or something) So I asked how is she a real housewife if she isn't married ?
I just zoned out on the explanation after that. Another relationship that was bound to fail.

That's probably a little far. I can think of 100 shows that are worse than Big Bang Theory.

100? Really? Maybe in all of history there are 100 shows worse than Big Bang Theory but I couldn't even think of 50 actively running shows worse than that garbage.

I am wondering if all of you that hate big bang just don't understand the jokes. Any show where Sheldon has to use a Finnish dictionary to install linux the correct way is a good show in my book.

Oh, linux? because they're nerds? ohhh I get it now. :pconfused:

Sorry, I'm a nerd but I have trouble enjoying a show just because I can relate to the material. Using a computer or being intelligent must come with the burden of social-retardation, right?

I can't think of any shows that I really hate. I'm usually pretty good about picking shows to watch and not watching shows I know I will hate.

I used to watch CSI Miami but Caruso got to be too much for me so I stopped watching. I watched the first few episodes of 2 Broke Girls but didn't find it all that funny.

I'm sure there a bunch of shows on MTV, VH1, Bravo, etc that I wouldn't like but I wouldn't know because I haven't seen an episode of them.

By the way, MTV is getting better with their programming. Teen Wolf and Awkward are both pretty good. And of course they have America's 5th favorite sport (Bill Simmons fans will know what I'm talking about.)

Awkward is actually a pretty decent show. Haven't seen Teen Wolf.

It's not reality. It's actuality:rolleyes:

That new show on FX that is being advertised all the time, Brand X, looks amazingly stupid. Russell Brand has never been, and will never be funny.

I will have to echo the dislike for The Big Bang Theory, CSI's, and "talent" competitions. Brand X has been awful and I hope Anger Management starts to flame out as well. The new season of the Real World doesn't look great. The chicks aren't up to the usual Real World standards and the guys are boring so far. I can't wait for the new RW:RR Challenge to start up. Always a good time with that cast.
