Was just listing to an interview that 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh did with Coach Rhoads today. They were pressing him on his interest/involvement when the Pitt job was open. During this segment of the interview, CPR mentioned that "several schools approached [him] in the offseason."

Not necessarily shocking, but this was the first time I had heard CPR explicitly mention this.

I think that its nice to know he turned down other opportunities to stay here. Glad we have a coach that enjoys being here.

I expect him to have interest from other schools. And as long as he keeps building--both the program, fanbase and facilities--I expect him to stay here.

It's just like dating a pretty woman. If you have a hottie then other men will try to take her.

You could lock in an ugly one so no other fellas show interest, but that's not a winning plan.

When a man chooses to dance with the chupacabra there are no winners

I am also very interested in the schools that contacted him. Have to imagine Pitt was high on that list. Here are the other BCS conference schools that underwent head coaching changes, and who they got:

Arizona - Rich Rodriguez
Arizona State - Todd Graham
Arkansas - John L. Smith*
Illinois - Tim Beckman
Kansas - Charlie "Frontbutt" Weis
Ole Miss - Hugh Freeze
North Carolina - Larry Fedora
Ohio State - Urban Meyer
Penn State - Bill O'Brien*
Pitt - Paul Chryst
Rutgers - Kyle Flood
Texas A&M - Kevin Sumlin
UCLA - Jim Mora
Washington State - Mike Leach

*Doesn't really count

Just on an absolute whim off the top of my head... I bet that Pitt, Illinois, and Ole Miss were after him hard, and more showed interest.

Aggie sticks out to me. Paul has experience recruiting Texas as well as in the SEC.

There is a lot of baggage and questionable history with that list of coaches.

Switching gears, CPS is a smart man and smart people never pledge their life to their employer. Your boss should always have a little bit of concern about keeping you.
