Do we need to worry about Rhoads leaving anytime soon?

I mean I know he signed a 10 year deal, but the buyout is pretty small. Rhoads has stated he will not be here forever. If you listened to KXNO this morning and listen to Ken Miller at all, the local hosts constantly bring up the conversation Joe Quinn had in KC about the confident reporter from Arkansas saying not to hold on too close to Rhoads because he will be their next head coach. Arkansas not winning on Saturday does not help John L Smith at all. I think Rhoads wants to be here until he thinks he is not welcome anymore and until he has reached his potential here. I mean look at Chizik, the guy is already on the hot seat with an 0-2 start. Does Rhoads want to be at a place where there is no "down" year and has constant pressure to win and win big? I hope we can afford another large increase in pay if this turns out to be a 8-9 win season. Can we afford to pay him 3-3.5 million a year with the new tv deal? That is what he will be offered by another school if he continues to win here.

No. Why do we dwell on this ****. And he never stated that he will not be here forever in the context you are putting it.

Honestly, if we could somehow go over .500 in conference this year, I'd be all for giving him another raise. Take some of that new conference money and give it to him.

In the same quote that you are talking about he also said something like If I did finish my career here I'd die a happy man.

If Paul gets the facilities, and ability to compete at the highest level he will stay. If not, you could not fault him for leaving. I would be upset if he did, but if we were able to promote a Shane Burnham to take over for him it would take some of the sting out of it and keep some continuity.

Exactly. We will absolutely pay him for his achievements. I havent a doubt if he continued to have growing success, that JP would find money to make his staff and him very content.

That extra money from the TV contract makes it a lot more likely that we can match any pay increase another school would offer him.

GTFO Arkansas, Rhoads is ours

I think there's an argument to be made that in a few years we may need to worry.

I agree, Im saying you listen to KXNO and the guys fully believe he already has his bags packed for after this season and has a one way ticket to Fayettville Arkansas.

Media makes money by spewing garbage and listeners eating it up. They need something to talk about. Consider the source.

Typical Cyclone fans thinking no coach would ever leave here. If he continues his success it's going to take a major raise again to keep him. Big time schools will come calling and don't be surprised if he at least takes offers very seriously.

that's because it's good for their ratings. Doom and Gloom keeps the fanbase stirred up, and they tune in. See: THE DEMISE OF THE BIG 12!

I don't see him leaving for Arkansas, but I could see him leaving for Texas in a couple of years. He is very much on their radar for when Mack is done...

Well when your last coach leaves you high and dry it leaves that bad taste in your mouth, hence the fear from some.

AHHHHH CPR is leaving, Steele is awful, the SEZ will never happen, JP is gone, and UNI is the best football team in the state. Man how did all of this happen since Saturday when the football team went 2-0.

Might as well cancel the rest of the season i guess................

The fanbase in Arkansas is showing their *** after the loss this past weekend, just sickening to see. I do not see CPR wanting the job here (sorry,I mean Arkansas), they would skin him alive if he didn't win the SEC West in 4 years. Hell, they want to skin the AD alive now for firing Petrino in April. It is a very very toxic situation right now in Fayetteville, and is going to be worse in 7 days when Bama puts 50 on them.
