I always feel like I must be in a completely different stadium than everyone else when I read these threads.

It varies widely. I was working concessions at WIU and I was shocked at how few drunk people there were (I was near the NW corner of the stadium, where I have never sat before). Some of the other people I was working with in other sections of JTS were shocked at how many drunk crazy people there were.

Sadly I don't have any fun quotes...except two of the girls I drove up to Ames from DSM had never heard of tailgating before and were surprised by it all. If we had walked through the student tailgate section their heads probably would have exploded.

This isn't really from the stadium, but didn't know where else to chime in. At the Fareway meat counter this evening there was an exchange between one of the butchers and a head-to-toe Hawk attired geezer. After a discussion of the Hawks likelihood of winning the Big Ten (is the conference really that bad this year?), the geezer chimes in that if the Hawks had only played as well as they did against UNI, they would have beat us by 70.:spinny: I can't imagine them scoring 70 against anyone. Since the butcher seemed to think Hawks would win the Big Ten this year, I kind of stalled until someone else could wait on me. Didn't really want to get my meat from someone I knew for sure was delusional.

Since they are obsessing about their loss to us still, wondering whose Super Bowl the game actually is?

I feel ya. For WIU I was stuck in the SEZ next to a wannabe band member reject who wouldn't stop yapping about "when I was in school..."

Every week there's some idiot Viking fan who's decked out in Minnesota Vikings gear. Really buddy? What kind of statement are you trying to make? This last week it was a Harvin jersey and a Vikings hat.

Few from same guy in student section:

Just after the interception in the 3rd quarter, my buddies and I started discussing how the pass was right on the money if Gary hadn't gotten his hands in there. This kid behind us then tells me how it was a terrible pass and he never should have thrown it. He then continued his little rant so I just turned around.
A little later he yells, "Put in Christensen!" -- Meant Richardson. LOLZ

He also said we play Kansas State in Kansas City at Arrowhead and we'll blow Oklahoma out of the water because we play them at home....... Poor freshman.

On the road...
Nothing pisses me off more than people who complain about fans standing. I get it if it's the hillside or someone behind you has a disability.(being a fat, lazy pos is not a disability) If I pay for my seats, I have every right in the world to stand the whole game and cheer on my team. If you don't like it, too bad.

Saw the same guy. Standing in that little alcove on the north end of west stadium near the stairs? I just...don't...get it. That, and he looked kind of skeevy.

So you're that dbag.

Its called courtesy to others. I don't sit the entire game, but the fact is the stadium was designed for sight lines for sitting and not standing. When people are standing, many more can't see, whether it be because they are kids that can't get themselves higher, people who are older who can't stand for 3 hours, or people who just happen to be shorter that aren't going to see over you if you stand.

Sure, you paid for your ticket, but so did everyone else. One or two people standing forces those behind them to do the same (and it causes a chain reaction farther back in the section). What gives you the impression that you should have the right to force people behind you to stand?

TL,DR, have some damn courtesy and go with what your section does.

It's confirmed. Chris Williams needs to leave the Vikings gear at home on ISU gameday.

Sounds like you might be more comfortable at home watching the game on TV.

Why not get into the game? Stand and cheer. You might help the Cyclones win.

As i said, i don't sit the entire game. But acting like one needs to stand the entire game to cheer or support their team is idiotic at best.
