Remind me, why did we not want Woodbury?

Seems for the past year I've heard multiple reasons on why we 'didn't want him' ranging from he can't run the floor (certainly looked like he could) to he is a project who isn't very good offensively (4/5 from the floor, and looked like we couldn't stop him at times). Did CFH completely miss on this one, or did he actually go after Woodbury? It would be a travesty if we didn't try and land this kid!

The kid was a lifelong Hok fan. There'd be no point in going after him because he had his heart set on dirt and urine.

So, because he was a fan of Iowa, we didn't even try? Iowa was garbage for almost half of his life, I would think CFH would at least try! It's amazing North Carolina recruited Barnes, as did Iowa/Kansas/everyone in the nation, given he was a lifelong ISU fan. The whole 'he was a hawk fan' excuse doesn't pass muster with me. All of these kids had a favorite team growing up, most of which were not us.

Well you got the correct answer. Now you're just digging for pooper pain, which you will not get.

The correct answer is because he was terrible. All of the scouts on here watched at least one half of one of Woodbury's high school games and it was obvious to 95% of posters that he would be a huge bust. He's white and looks awkward. The fact that schools like UNC were recruiting him too was just a fluke. It was just the national media bias toward Iowa that was helping him become such a highly rated recruit.

Don't forget, ISU was garbage for almost half his life, too. In any case, I doubt there are many people on this board who are qualified to answer the question of why we didn't go after him. No sense crying about it now.

For a big guy, Woodbury moves up and down the court very well. Plays with intensity and isn't timid at all. Wish he was a Cyclone. But as others have pointed out, with him growing up a Hawk fan, we didn't really stand a chance.

Woodbury Gessel and Clemmons look like very nice players. We'll be lucky to win in Hilton next year as we'll have a lot of new parts

It's too bad the cyclone defenders weren't smart enough to stop his one move. The drop step hook shot. Incredibly frustrating to watch him do that whenever he got the ball last night and the defense refused to do anything about it.

He got out muscled for a lot of boards, that's for sure. One would assume he will gain some strength over the next few years. Once he adds some muscle to go with being a 'trained big dude' he will be pretty damn good I have a feeling. Wish we had him, or someone like him!

We made our runs when Woodbury was out of the game. Percy and Niang were much more effective when Adam was on the pine

If Woodbury looked impressive, then I don't know what to tell you. 4 baskets and minimal boards against smaller guys didn't blow my mind. Clemmons and White are the ones that made us look silly.
