I've been at ISU (now in grad school) since 2004 and haven't been asked to get a new student ID yet. I assume if I had student tickets, my current ID would still have to work.Ids change every 7 years I believe.

The one i have is from 2006. I dont think they have changed...
Wait, so all you have to do to sit in cyclone alley is show a student id? So, theoretically I can show mine and sit down there even though I graduated last year?
What if I still have mine from say, 2002??? Have they changed?
I still use mine from 2002 as well. I occasionally take a class at ISU for fun (I like to learn) and so I am technically a student?

Clonecones?
Hopefully it will be too crowded for those shenanigans.#takebackcyclonealley

The only people who generally support Cyclone Alley tend to be the people with connections to Cyclone Alley.
Essentially, its only purpose is to scam money out of students for the Alumni Association, and allow some of the odd kids in high school to get a position of power and build their resume.
If one side of the student section was General Admission, Cyclone Alley would be dead. No question.
That makes me question their actions during my junior year (Fall '09, not that long ago). A good friend of mine (Hawkeye fan, but ISU student - cheers for ISU in every sport when they're not playing Iowa) was wearing an Iowa zip-up sweatshirt over the CA shirt at the Iowa game. They approached him, saying he had to have his CA shirt showing (he had zipped up the sweatshirt by then). I look around and see another kid wearing a Texas zip up, and they didn't say a word to him. Now, I know it's Iowa. And I hate them more than most. But a season ticket-owning ISU student should be able to attend the game in peace. That soured my opinion of them.
Again, this discussion will be moot in 2 years when every game is packed to the rafters after 3 years in the tournament and a Sweet 16 appearance. You can already see the tide changing.
You don't have to be in cyclone alley to get in the student section anymore. That is the entire point of this thread. You just buy the tickets and don't buy cyclone alley membership for $20. With the props and t-shirts they give back I doubt they see any profit from this anyways. Its more of a method to get students within their grasp to bother for the rest of their lives.
Your friend sucks. They should have hauled his but out in front of the students and let them throw crap at him.
Everybody is still required to be a part of Cyclone Alley. It is built into the price of the All Sports Package which you had to buy this year in order to buy basketball tickets. You are in Cyclone Alley whether you know it or not.
Why do people think it would be any different if CA was gone? How is that a small handful of CA people have such an effect on students? Please help us "old folks" understand how or why these few people apparently have so much power over you.
I picture the Cyclone Alley board reading this thread saying "But...but...we play tic tac toe!!! we give away coffee tumblers to fans who come to more than 3 games!!! These people don't understand what it takes to be a fan!!!"
