It would be better if it was ended. Period. But the people involved with it are too interested in being involved with it to do this.

I'm sure it's been covered before, but why was it better before CA? Just the CA activities during the game?

Does anyone know if some of the better student sections in the nation (Cameroon Crazies, Izzone, The Show) are Student ran or are they just free for alls?

From a quick google search, the izzone does. Not sure about the others though..

Here's the Izzone contract: Most notably the T-shirt rule, no inappropriate language, and no one under the influence of alcohol (of course, I highly doubt they enforce the last two)

Edit: Beat me to it

I wasn't complaining...only pointing out something I noticed as a student. Cyclone Alley was never needed; nothing was wrong with the student section when it was created.

I know. I wanted to write that and I kind of forced it in there, just like I do with the ladies.

I just don't think that the 6 students who run CA are the problem. I think it's the other thousands. You don't have to wear a name tag to be a leader.

Misconception... It didn't cost $20. It was included in the price of the all sports package. So it was "free".

Anyways, it sounds like you are saying that they don't do much of anything besides give out trinkets based on attendance, and put on silly timeout promotions. Is that a fair assessment? Or is there something I am missing that they do?

Ha even I don't have all the facts straight. I went to the game watch at Johnny's in Hilton and it included all you can eat hickory park and free drinks so I thought that was really cool. I also really liked the five free drinks as one of the reward levels that was probably a $15 value.

I guess my problem is the fact that everyone complains about CAC, but I just don't see how it changes anything. If you want to start a cool chant, you are totally free to. You do not need CAC approval or involvement. If you want to do something crazy, go for it! Nothing is stopping you. CAC provides benefits such as the rewards program, game watches, a t-shirt, etc, but it doesn't stop or prevent anything. Would the student sections really be that different if we took away 5 people sitting in the front??

CA is like your birthday party sleepover in 5th grade that your mom puts on for your friends. The student section without CA is what that birthday party was like when your parents finally went to bed.

I was in the student section starting in the 2002-2003 season, when there was no CA. 2003-2004, there was one side CA, and I believe it went to all CA in the 2004-2005 season.

All I will say is, as a student who experienced no CA, 1/2 CA, and all CA, the student section was BY FAR the best when there was no CA.

I was a student at the same time and I agree completely. When it was split, the difference was very obvious. Non CA was the place to be. Go back to a split and just watch, it will prove itself.

Yes, except for the fact that CAC does not stop/discourage you from doing anything like your parents probably did. They do not supervise the student section and couldn't care less if you showed up drunk/crazy. If you were behaving in a way that was needed dealt with, it would be something that police/security/event staff would deal with not CAC.

I agree. I had the same experience. I graduated in May 2006 so I got to experience the transition and CA sucked the life out of the student section. It became bland, particularly in dress, appearance and rowdiness.

Are there no more metal backed chairs in the student section? We used to bang on the backs of those and they would make unbelievable noise. I don't hear that today.

I will say that CA today seems to be an improvement over the CA of the 2007, 2008, etc. seasons. However, I don't make very many games to tell.

They are metal folding chairs, but they have padding, so the noise is not the same. Students try. The chairs just aren't very loud.

I chalk this up to the product on the court.

False, I was warned last year about being drunk and overly crazy.

But communication is the biggest problem with CA. Send out emails reminding people of games more than once a week. Communicate that you want everyone to stand and be loud during timeouts instead of sitting down yourselves. CAC is the leadership, so they should be the ones leading!

This. CAC should be the loudest, craziest people out there. Lead by example. I'm tired of seeing CAC members standing with their arms crossed.

Definitely true! And I think the communication could definitely be improved, that is something I mentioned to them not too long ago.

Speaking of drunk. I was able to go the the K-State game and on my way in, I saw a student being led out by police and put in the car. Did something specific happen or was he just too drunk and got busted?
