Tom Dienhart ‏@BTNTomDienhart Aside from Shaka Smart, some other names for the #Gophers job: Flip Saunders, Buzz Williams, Fred Hoiberg, Jay Wright and Greg Marshall.

Comical how poorly some of these writers understand this school. I realize this guy isn't a B12 writer, but come on.

Fred makes a lot of sense, but they are high if they think he has any desire for that job at all.

Maybe he wants to get away from family and take a job in a place where he has zero ties, where the facilities are worse, and people don't care, and he can remain anonymous, in a conference where every coach in America dreams about coaching in?

You never know what Fred is thinking.

I think Marshall will stay at Wichita State. They consistently fill the arena and are incredibly competitive with teams from the top conferences.

I could see an NBA job or maybe one of the true college basketball blue bloods... But minnesota? Lateral move and why would he want to take the gamble of starting over when he's clearly building something here? And thats without considering his ties to ames\ISU.

That said, as long as hoiberg keeps it up, expect his name to come up a lot. The media view ISU as a stepping stone so will bring up Hoiberg for a lot of openings.

And he talks about building the program in the model of Gonzaga all the time. I think he follows the Few path and stays there.

Minnesota Timberwolves maybe if Rick Adelman ends up stepping down. Not the ridiculous Goofers.

Dienhart is still mad at Iowa State for his buddy Dan McCarney getting fired. Man, let it go already.

When I first read the headline I thought Timberwolves and how that could kind of make sense. When I opened this thread an actually got to read it, right after it was posted. I just now stopped laughing enough to actually post. Is Dienhart high? As others have said, yeah, we don't carry a lot of clout as a school, but holy ****, do some homework and you'll see Fred isn't going to be a Gopher.

Noted Cyclone troll Todd Brommelkamp brought that up on his new 1600KGYM (cedar rapids) show yesterday afternoon as well.

Anyone know if Hoiberg's ankles are strong cause he might sprain one with that step down.

Fun stat: After removing the vacated NCAA appearances Minnesota has 2 more (8) appearances than UNI (6) in the tournament. ISU has one more than those two teams combined (15).

This is just media arrogance toward ISU. Nothing more.

I don't think Hoiberg would coach at another college, unless he somehow got fired at ISU, which isn't very damn likely at this point. IF he ever leaves, and I truly believe this is a gigantic "if", its going to be for a pro job. Everyone is snake-bitten by the Cael situation, but this is totally different.
