12 Angry Men
All About Eve
Dial M for Murder
Harvey
North by Northwest
Spirit of St. Louis
Witness for the Prosecution
Anatomy of a Murder
Rear Window
Some Like it Hot

That's a pretty good list. Some of those I've never seen but would still like to. Rear Window is excellent. Was "Rope" made in the 50s also?

Rear Window
Vertigo
A Christmas Carol (1951 Scrooge version)

Hitchcock (per his Will) had some of his classics locked for years after his death. They were re-released in the 80's, and I got to see Vertigo and Rear Window on the big screen at the 2nd 'premiere' go-around at the Chicago Theater on Michigan Ave.

Who wouldn't fall in love with Grace Kelly in Rear Window? Unbelievable beauty in that movie

Waukee
Godzilla - the Japanese version

Forbidden Planet - can't go wrong with a guy name Will Shakespeare wrote your screenplay

North by Northwest - not really a contest, this is the best one of the decade

Some Like It Hot - it jiggles

Bridge Over the River Kwai

Ben-Hur and The Ten Commandments - Charlton Heston was the man

The Day the Earth Stood Still - 50s science fiction was pretty killer from top (this) to bottom (campy awesome)

Throne of Blood, and about four other Kurosawa films, for that matter

Good decade.

North by Northwest - excellent - and shows the difference in drinking & driving laws between then and now.

Ben-Hur - watched that once on TNT. I think it took about 8 hours.

Somewhere in the U.S.
Great lists. I might add:

Harvey
On the Waterfront
All About Eve
Some Like It Hot
Old Yellar
A Streetcar Named Desire
Shane
From Here to Eternity
Marty
Giant (James Dean)
The Seven Year Itch (Marilyn Monroe)
Stalag 17

Yes, I was alive in the 50's but much too young to see most of these then.
