Maybe Percy is working on his 3 point shot to stretch the D? If thats the case and he hits a few in real games then he will furhter open things up, anyone think of that?
He's taken 1 3 in a game in two years.

Sounds like he needs to improve his shot. So wait, why are people slamming him for working on weak parts of his game in the CCL. How do you guys know Hoiberg didn't tell him to work on his jump shot?

They don't, but since when has that ever stop posters from vomiting their distaste of players, coaches etc in every thread?

I get what you're saying, and there are maybe other reasons Percy did what he did... But I would say his most pressing weaknesses are his rebounding, and finishing to his right/ with his right hand.

It seems like asking Dennis Rodman to learn how to jump shoot halfway through his career. Like others have said he has other bigger holes in his game for someone who's 6'9" and plays the 5.

And you expect him to "fill those holes" in the CCL...

It's clear that people see what they want to see when it comes to the CCL. Long played well but no one is saying anything because they have already written him off. Gibson shooting threes is blasphemy to the people who don't think he's any good. People who are like SDW inflate the meaning of his performance.

I wasn't saying that, more that if you think Fred would pick 3 point shooting as Percy's one hole to fill that you're probably not very knowledgeable at basketball.

Good to see SDW play well and have some size to him. If he can play this year, it will definitely help the team out.

With that said, we need to pump the brakes a bit (as some have said). There have been some big scorers in the CCL league's history that haven't translated to Big 12 play. Jon Neal scored 48 in a game. Sean Haluska always scored a ton. Tavon Sledge dropped 40 in a game I belive and Bubu scores A LOT of points in this league and than goes on to score 2.8 ppg during the season. While you can usually tell if a player isn't any good, it's hard to tell if a players scoring will translate to the Big 12.

While it is nothing but a good sign that these guys are playing well in the CCL, lets temper our expectations a bit here. Our "young guards" have not played any meaningful college basketball to date. Hopefully, 2 or 3 years from know we can legimitatley be talking about our backcourt being one of the best in the Big 12. But right now, I don't think the fact that our freshman guards are showing well in the CCL is exactly striking fear in the heart of Big 12 coaches.

No, but the fact that we have one of the best coaching staffs in the Big 12 to go ALONG with the major talent we have on this team does...

IIRC Walters said he was about 170ish when getting to campus last summer.

Sherron Dorsey-Walker - Yahoo! Sports

Rivals had him at 175 coming out of high school. Cyclones.com has him at 190.

My recollection from last year's CCL was that SDW had incredible hops and was really fast going to his left, but wasn't strong enough to hold on to the ball and fight through for the shot in the lane. Sounds like putting on weight, getting stronger, and playing against Babb every day has really helped him. Can't wait to see him for myself.

He was a skinny little string bean last year...could (and still can) jump out of the gym, but he's a totally different player this year. Is it January yet?

Whats good to see is that our guards are hitting their open shots. Thats big. Thomas and Dorsey-Walker are also showing they can get their own open three point shot like McGee did. That is huge as well. These CCL games show us how athletically good they can be and if they can just straight up shoot lights out. The first exhibition game will be the real test. How well they play together and under some sort of pressure.

I'd put the title of my car on Kane getting 30+ minutes/ night.

She's a beaut!
