Yes... because that's what people are saying. You're better than that Clark.

thanks, I think. All I said is he wouldn't be a starting NBA player and people act like I called his mother a bad name. If his defense improves I think he could be a pretty useful role player assuming his 3 point shot translates to the NBAand/or he shows that he can rebound at an elite level.

Wiggins is soft. It will get exposed in the Big 12.

Hope you meant for a jimlad. If the NBA is already talking about someone who hasn't played any college ball, then there is a good chance that they may be a pretty good ball player.

Rereading my original post I did say regular player and not starter. I meant starter but the confusion is my mistake.

So because you say you're a big NBA fan means you think Niang, after playing 1 year of college ball, won't be an NBA player? Where can I sign up for your newsletter?

I also don't think he will be an NBA player. I do think he'll be an all time great cyclone and couldn't be happier about that.

I also think green isn't a great comparison. I'd say Anthony tolliver.

Wow, they wrote a book on him. I think they did a pretty good job assessing him. #7 in the big 12 though? Seems a bit high. But they definitely got the talent part right. I love watching Georges' pump fakes and up-and-unders; oh and those reverse layups off of spin moves ....mmmm... it't a thing of beauty. Is it basketball season yet?

Don't get the Tolliver comparison. He's just a big guy who is mainly a crappy 3 point shooter, not a good passer or a guy you can put in the high post and run a set through once in a while.

Regardless of Niangs NBA status I hope he comes to coach for us some years down the road. Make him an asst for fred in his offense and our posts would be amazing

I've made the Draymond Green comparison before as well. I'd be pretty happy to have Niang lead us to the success Green helped MSU achieve during his tenure as well.

Ok, Melvin isnt listed as high as Basabe? Seriously? I have a problem with that. What really has Basabe done? Hot and cold as a player at best, average at worst.

With his size and athleticism he has to be one of iowa's more disappointing players.

Yeah, I read that after I posted that. So you're telling me a guy that's likely to never see a starting lineup is the 7th best prospect in the Big 12? That's possible I guess since they aren't including freshmen.

I'd be surprised if you could find a conference in the country where you could find 4 returning guys that will be NBA starters, much less 7. It's really freaking hard to play in the NBA.

I never understood why people get upset when one of their players isn't thought to be NBA quality. I mean some of the all time great college players never did squat in the NBA. Totally different game.

That said, I don't think EITHER Iowa or Iowa St. has an NBA player on Scholarship right now. Niang, Ejim, White and Basabe just aren't big enough to play the 4 and are not quick enough for the 3. Kane and Marble don't have the handle for the PG position in the NBA, and aren't good enough shooters to play SG. Even Woodbury at 7'1 doesn't look like an NBA player. He does have time to develop and he is 7'1, so I wouldn't totally write him off. All it takes for a 7'1 guy is a good SR year, and he could be drafted.

The only NBA comparison I could think of would be Jared Dudley. That might be a stretch though.

I'm a pretty big NBA fan. What NBA player do you think his game resembles?

None, which is actually a good thing. There's a load of 6'7" guys that supposedly have insane athleticism that can't shoot, can't pass, and don't have a basketball brain in the NBA.

If I had to compare Niang to anyone it would be a non-rebounding Kevin Love. I'm not saying Niang will ever make it in the league but I think he has a shot, I think you'd be surprised how much an NBA coach covets a guy with a solid head on his shoulders and can hit the 3 ball at 6'7"+

Since you've been all about bets this week I'd take this one. ISU has had an NBA player on the roster every season for the last 20(?) years.
