My post wasn't suppose to be a criticism of you Chris, I just want someone to start holding the coaching staff's feet to the fire. I've always been surprised that no one in the state of Iowa is willing to do it.

Lots of big talk in here, which is fine. I don't mind when people criticize my work. That is part of the business and it happens all of the time. You don't sign up for work like this if you have thin-skin.

I'm not crazy about being disrespected by tough guys using anonymous Internet names though.

If you're an engineer, a doctor, a janitor or a social worker, I will never claim that I know everything there is to know about doing your job. Until you have been in my shoes, I would appreciate if you would show me that same respect.

Have a great Sunday, and how about that Naz Long? Wow!

Hey pal, there's a separate thread for discussion about Naz Long. Keep this one on topic, please.

:jimlad:

But seriously, keep up the good work CW.

Epic would be asking a true softball question. "Coach Rhoads, your team has not performed well this season with runners in scoring position. Can you tell us some of the ways you've tried to improve the offense, and the progression of your slap hitting this season?"

Always a good way to keep your media credentials and get future access to the program.
THIS....THIS here is the problem with all journalism today. There is none, and the tele-celebrity news readers are more worried about access and cocktail party invitations than speaking Truth to Power.

"Why wait?" would be my question. I am sure there is more to the answer than "I am a classy guy and want to wait until the end of the season". There has to be components of contract compensation. I don't buy reasons of team morale, because the response would be the same as the german general to Field Marshall Model in "A Bridge Too Far".
Have an interim guy finish the season....MAYBE they could rally to beat KU...then get your guy in place for next year. I am wondering if we get a big fat ZERO on OU.....I am thinking Stoops may not go that hard because he wants to keep CPR and Mess around to keep that bye week on his schedule.

CPR was asked earlier in the season (and it was mentioned on here) about mid-season staff changes and answered that, in his experience, mid-season staff changes do not produce the desired effect (or something similar to this).

That's called "doing your job" and "keeping your job." CW's job is to report on news with Iowa State. When you want to be clued in on commitments/visitors/etc. you get favors from sources. You don't bite the hands that feeds or you don't have a job. CW can speak some truth and be critical but there's a fine line that you really don't want to even approach. It doesn't matter anyways because nearly all coaches are giving bull **** answers. Ask the question however you want...the answer is going to be nearly the same regardless.

That and as a person you don't want to make an *** of yourself.

It worked for Wisconsin last year. It worked for Texas. That monolithic, rigid answer he gave reeks more of intellectual laziness and good 'ol boy courtesy than really evaluating the situation and being passionate about ISU winning.

Understood....you are right. CW does a good job....I wish he had better material (wins) to report on. Crazy, confrontational reporters are fun though.......you get those "PLAYOFFS!?!?!?!!" and "THEY WERE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE" moments that are priceless. Ug....just imagine if all coaches were Ferentz and gave the same old "No doubt about it....." preamble to their every non-answer. I will tell you this: If I win power ball or my other longshot venture capital investments come through....I am going to get me a press pass and start whizzing some good ones at the establishment.

Which is why I've been doing CrossFit with my pal Jack Whitver for the last few months. Been working on my thighs, as they are making us wear those shorter skirts now. Gotta get rid of some of that annoying cellulite.

I said I was working on eliminating cellulite, not increased flexibility.

Sunuvabich, Chris..I been out working in the yard all afternoon, sit down for dinner, and then pull up CF and see what's up in here...and get to read about you wearing short skirts, your cellulite, your flexibility...can you close this stuff down before my pork chop and scalloped potatoes end up on the living room floor?

Okay, that's creepy. If you had green beans and biscuits with it, we had the same menu...
