It was surprisingly smooth and orderly. I also liked how they let us in earlier so students who had the corner upper deck seats couldn't take our seats in CA.

Agreed with both of the above posts. The new system is infinitely better than the old one. I would really encourage Athletics to look into ways that they can mirror that process for football instead of the "herd" approach that used to be used for MBB and is still in place for FB.

How does the new system work?

A queued single file line of about 100 people with the expressed line behind it wrapping around to wherever. Then they let I would say 30 people or so at a time up the stairs and if you run up them, you get to go to the back.

Nice. Sounds, idk, logical. I'm still bitter after I got screwed out of front row KU seats in 2009 so I'm glad a change got made.

Only thing I dont like about it is how long it takes. Other than that, it worked surprisingly well for this game.

The only thing I don't like about it is they are trying so hard to make sure we don't save seats when we are in Hilton, but yet they let people walk up 30 minutes before they let us in and step in line with their friends.

I dont mind if people save seats (cuz we do it), but what I dont like is when you have one person saving five or more seats. That is stupid.

I agree, there has to be some balance. I think for any 1 person you have in the stands, you can save up to 2 seats. Maybe that ratio is 1:1 in the very front few rows.

We try to do at least 1:1. It doesnt always happen, but that is our goal.

An usher could stand at the end of the line and give out numbered voucher slips as people arrive. Of course, it wouldn't take long for someone to make fake ones. Or have a pre-scan of tickets (one per person in line) as they arrive. Not sure if the equipment is designed for this.

And why do you think a 1:1 ratio is fair in any way to the others who camped out all night? You certainly deserve your seat, but I don't see why you think you deserve the right to save a seat for someone else. Isn't that the essence of the problem? Isn't the idea of standing in line for hours so that you earn the seat?

If the equipment is designed for it, a pre-scan of tickets would be a good idea. Then, once the ticket is scanned...stamp their hands, or you could put a wrist ticket on them.

For the hand stamps.....you use a word, and you use a new one for each game. You use the word because it can't be transferred. The wrist tickets....you just use a new color for each game.

I fully agree with you and wish that we had a system in place to prevent seat saving.

That said, it doesn't work that way now at Hilton.

I'm just glad they let the students waiting in line inside 30 minutes early. After standing out in the rain and cold, I know my feet certainly appreciated it.

The wristband idea would work. Cheap and effective solution.

Did all the students in line get in or did they cut it off?
