Re: Rashad Vaughn

WBN Nightcap: Kentucky Wildcats back in recruitment of 2014 SG Rashad Vaughn; Marquis Teague to D-League - Wildcat Blue Nation - A University of Kentucky Wildcats Fan Site - News, Blogs, Opinion and more.

Kentucky basketball is now “re-recruiting” 2014 SG Rashad Vaughn of Findlay Prep (NV). UK assistant coach Orlando Antigua made a visit to Findlay Prep earlier today. Vaughn already holds a scholarship offer from Kentucky, but UK chose to back off from recruiting Vaughn after both parties had lost interest last year. Vaughn also was believed to have more interest in North Carolina previously. “They’ve been recruiting him for a while now,” said Findley Prep asst. coach Pete Kaffey . “We just haven’t been making it public. They wanted to deal with the fall recruits first, and since Rashad was going to be deciding so late it didn’t make sense to go hard (after him) when you could try to get other guys right now.”

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Hopefully he is just being polite. Makes you wonder if these lottery picks are worth the hassle sometimes. Seems you may be better off with a top 100 kid or transfers sometimes.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

ISU has put their best sales pitch forward. He's seen two good games (Baylor and MU) which had great crowds. He knows that next years team will be the best that Hoiberg has had in his 4 years and adding Vaughn can make them a possible National Champion contender. Plus CFH runs the NBA system that he wants to show off his skills.

The only thing left is for ISU to redirect some of that $25MM gift for the SEZ to RV's pocket.

ISU is probably better off finding the top 100 talent that transfers after a year or two, then sits out for a year learning the ISU system while turning their body into a 21-22 year old man versus a 18 year old kid who has barely seen a weight room. Or developing a guy like Niang over 3-4 years. GN has a lot of skill, but not have a NBA body - so he will probably stick around for 4 years and be an All-American before its all over.

Looking at guys like Kane, Hogue and McKay for next year.........those are physical guys that push around these top freshman, just because they have 30 lbs more muslce on their bodies.

But it would be ok, to add a top 10 recruit here and there though.

I think you are truly better off with one or two of the former and a squad full of the latter.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I guess I just can't see how a kid who says he loves Fred Hoiberg would also like someone so slimy and pathetic as Calipari. I mean we are talking two completely different types of human beings. One encompasses everything good about being human and coaching college atheletics and the other represents everything bad and immorral about college atheletics and in my opinion as a person too. Obviously the rediculous tradition is there, but c'mon, Calipari????? Really?? This would **** me off more than if he went to KU.

It's down to Kentucky or UNC. We had a good run!
Even unc can't stand up to ky. We had Randle until ky went to visit. Had a good shot at booker as well. The minute ky got involved he cooled on us. I hate ky I reaalllly rrrrrreeeeaallly believe and hope he goes to ISU.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

“Basically he saw me play the game in triple overtime [in Las Vegas and] I think I had like 32 points,†Ryan said about Davis. “He said with the way I can shoot it and that they need a shooter they are going to recruit me really hard.â€UNC has made it clear it needs a shooter whether it comes in the 2014 or 2015 class – or both. Ryan recognizes that need and that is among the things that stick out about the Tar Heels to Ryan.“Their necessity for a shooter is really attractive because I’m looking to go to a place that needs me and North Carolina is definitely is one of those places that needs a shooter,†Ryan said.Ryan said the Heels have turned up their interest as of late and he was able to see them play recently when they knocked off Louisville in Connecticut.“North Carolina as of lately has been coming on really strong,†the 2015 recruit said. “I went to see their game against Louisville that they won at the Mohegan Sun tournament.â€â€œCoach Hubert Davis has been texting me twice a week,†he added. “He has my schedule and he says Coach Williams and him are going to come to see me play.â€Ryan currently has scholarship offers from Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Boston College, Pittsburgh, Creighton, Clemson, West Virginia, Arizona State, Virginia, Providence, Iowa State and Rutgers.

Obviously I couldn't post the whole atricle but lets assume that vaughn is one and done... this would be a nice shooter for either team ro replace vaughn. Multiple yr player team player good size very very nice stroke. How hard are you guys recruiting him?

No idea, this is the first I've really heard of him but I'm not following 2015 recruiting too closely at this point.
