I have been selling and installing windows and doors for 15 years and will tell anyone that will listen that the windows sold by the big box stores are not the same as the ones sold by the company. In other words the Pella windows store windows are made differently than those sold at menard's etc. The big box stores want a cheap price and are not concerned about quality. I have studied windows for years and have been selling Provia windows for almost 10 years and feel that while not a well known company in this area there is none better on the market. I have had many companies come in and try to get me to switch but will not switch what we sell until I see something better.

You're overpaying big time unless everyone of those windows is oddly shaped.

That seems on the expensive side. I did nine windows with the Simonton 5500 series (mid-line) for a little over $4500 about three years ago. I'm really happy them, and they are huge improvement over the 22-year-old originals.

Simonton, Okna, Softlite, etc. Do not spend 35,000 on 20 replacements, unless you don't care about money.

I should clarify.

The quote is 29.5k. The windows are 22.5k installed and the two sliding doors are 7k installed. The extra money comes if I want oak veneer interior on the windows (stained by them as well). The base price is for white composite...just not sure how that will look in my house. Also, as mentioned, I have several large windows on the backside of our house. If I look at just a standard sized casement window on the quote, it is about $900 installed.

You should see if they can give you bid without labor. I can almost bet a carpenter could install them cheaper. Andersons labor prices are probably through the roof compared to a local carpenters price. They have way more overhead costs to cover compared to your guy. Can totally understand you wanting to get quality windows but not sure I would pull the trigger without looking or taking a couple bids.

Not possible with the renewal windows. I'm sure you are correct though.

Mine were defective in design and started rotting.
If yours were truly defective Pella has been very good over the years on trying to a degree to make up for that on replacing those. Have worked with Pella for 22years and they care about their product. Don't know if you reached out to them or not.

Had Pella in my house in the first year I owned it telling them their windows were crap. They blamed the moisure penetration problems on everything but the windows. Low and behold, they now find themselves in a class action suit. Looks like I may have been right all this time.
Pella may have a better product now, but the bad taste in my mouth from them will likely never leave.
Not to mention they are Dutch. To quote Austin Powers father..."There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch".

I replaced two Pella Pro Line windows a few years back that were 16 yrs old. The Pro Line is not the top of the line window (just like one poster said, companies make different grades for the market) so when I looked I got three quotes. I went with the top of the line Pella window as they were less expensive (Anderson was the most expensive)than the other two quotes. I am very happy with the replacements.

I live in Colorado and we put in Anderson Windows about four or five years ago. Price is crazy - we did the upstairs windows in the fall and the downstairs the next summer to split the roughly $36K cost over two years. We love them and our heat and ac bill have been down about 20%, new windows make the house air tight. I told the wife if we do the windows we ain't moving. Windows have a life time guarantee so in theory if you do sell should get "some" value back.

Unless you don't mind blowing money, you should get at least 3 quotes.
