For the record, I know that some of the students who had camped the longest said that the court storm was "terrible" and did not participate.

Not sure why this is so embarrassing for some of you. Hilton Magic is all about the fans being part of the game. Who cares what others think? We haveHilton Magic . . . and they don't. The last thing I want to do right now is throw water on the fire of our fans who are thoroughly enjoying a huge win in a close game against our in-state rival who is ranked. I may not like everything that our fans do before/during/after games, but I'm certainly not embarrassed by the exuberance of our fans in that celebration.

If those kids camp out for 36 hours in terrible conditions for the Texas Tech game, and they feel like going on the court after a win, I say let them.

Loyal students that wanna have fun and support their team by being there early and being constantly loud>>>>>>>students who just show up late, leave early, don't cheer load, and are on their phone.
Or, don't even bother to buy tickets in the first place (we won't mention any schools in particular).

It was a fairly dramatic win. I can't blame a few students for jumping on the court.

I won't complain about the Michigan and Iowa stormings if that can be it for the year. No more rushing.
Disagree. I hope we beat OSU for a conference title. My 40-something group would rush the court from the balcony.

Some of these guys are hard-core fans who did their part before and during the game to be part of Hilton Magic. They may also be aware of the "rules" for storming the court. Perhaps the players and us fans should be storming Cyclone Alley!

Nonetheless, Hoiberg seemed to enjoy the on-court celebration (based on his comments during the post-game sideline interview).

And the on-court celebration is likely to help ratchet up the quality of Cyclone Alley for the Big 12 conference season. This will be the first year that we have gone into the conference season with high expectations from those outside our program. In recent years, fan support has had to grow from hesitant optimism to true confidence that we can win big games. This year, we can start the conference season with this sort of spirit. That is what the on-court celebration was launching.

1. We shouldn't have stormed the court..
2. If you must storm the court, at least make it look good. Everybody looked hesitant and then just said screw it and jogged out there. It was a little trickle of kids running onto the court, and most weren't doing it in celebration but because they felt they had to because other people were. If you are ever in doubt about storming the court, it usually means a court storm isn't warranted. Storming the court should come from a knee jerk reaction because of an amazing upset or last second buzzer beater against a big time opponent. Last night was neither.
3. Storming the court after every win and it becomes less of a big deal. It will start getting old and stale. Save it for huge wins so that when you actually do storm the court, it will be memorable and special and not just another win.
4. All that being said... Meh. Whatever.

For those that say 'act like youve been there before'..

You do realize we're tied for our second best start in school history, right? And that this is the best start since most current students were about 5 years old.

Yes, it looked kind of lame. Old people judging college students having fun is far more lame, which is why I'm glad it happened.

Also, you don't just go from depths-of-hell-McDermott-suckage recovery to "above that" in a couple seasons, so forgive fans that are still getting used to expecting to win huge games.

Personally, and this is probably just me, but as an ISU fan I think this 20 page thread about rushing the court is much more embarrassing then the actual court-rushing of last night.

I don't like all the rushing, but when I was in school we didn't a reason to rush, we were all to busy making fun of Wayne Morgan and his stoned eyes, so who am I to say they can't? Last night was very emotional. It was Iowa. We all heard how Iowa would kill is in Carver, blah blah blah. I'm sure they will use more discretion in the future.

Waiting for someone to say we shouldn't rush because it hurts recruiting

We rushed the court maybe two times under Wayne Morgan. An example of when it is appropriate:

I watched the game online today. I think it should be named more of a "court slightly windy" than a "court storming". There were about 100 people out there. Not exactly a storming.

You know, why does anyone care whether students rush the court? If you don't like it, don't do it yourself. But for Pete's sake, let the students have fun. If they aren't embarrassed to do it or bothered that they were the subject of a thread on another board (big whoop), why should it bother someone on this board?

Unless Fred makes a plea to the students someday not to rush the court, does this have to come up every time it happens? Oh yeah, we won, so we need something to ***** and whine about.
