Here are a few harsh words but also some reality as well. I am a clone fan through and through. Now I like UNI wrestling, I can also say that I despise the hawks in every way possible and I do not think that this will ever change for me nor do I want it to.
with that being said, this is what I think that is going to happen as it relates to UNI.
They may beat us and we may pull it out. To me they are a dual team and will and are doing well in duals But and I think that when it comes to a tournament, this is not a strength for them. I foresee them looking real good on the first round or two at the NCAAs and then they will start falling off.
Now I also think that we will do better at the big show the problem will be how many will we get in.
Well that is a few thoughts. Have a great Sunday Clones.

A month ago I thought UNI was the type of team that was likely to flame out at NCAAs. And I'm not totally convinced they won't. But right now they are sure looking legit. There's a decent chance they'll be ranked higher than Iowa in the USA Today Poll on Tuesday.

We match up with them pretty well. A UNI win over us is hardly a foregone conclusion. But we'll need everybody to step up and win the tossups. And an upset win from Hall or Smith would go a long way.

I don't think there's a chance of that. Iowa or will be ranked higher than UNI at 8 or 9 weights.

UNI does have a good dual team but they have 3 guys ranked in the top 8 and a few others in the top 15. That should be enough to place top 10. Even as much as we have improved we only have one in the top 8 and 2 others top 15.

I think that Boaz/Lelund and Earl are capable of scoring some points at Nationals for us in addition to Kyven, Tanner, and Moreno

I stillthink there are some potential injury issues with some teams. Steinhaus and Lil Dardanes seem to be struggling for Minnesota. Loder and Lazor need to stay healthy for UNI.

I assume there are others. I don't think Patterson wrestled in the last dual for Oklahoma also.

Iowa will be ranked higher than UNI in tournament strength. But they will be 4 and 5 in the USA Today poll when it comes out tomorrow. And if Iowa is in front of UNI at all all, it won't be by very much. Iowa was 2nd and lost to #4. UNI was #5 and beat #7.

If true, there's a reason why those ratings have fallen off the map from a respect standpoint. I'm a UNI season ticket holder. It would be a fun dual but Iowa is likely to stuff UNI in a dual.

Like Oklahoma, UNI is about matchups in some duals. If they match up well, they are very competitive and if they don't they are beatable.

Its a coaches poll. I'd hope it was at least a bit respectable.

Last week's top 7:
RankSchoolPointsRecord
1Penn State40010-0
2Iowa39011-1
3Cornell3755-0
4Minnesota3667-1
5UNI3596-0
6Oklahoma3457-1
7Missouri3324-0

Cornell won handily so they aren't going to drop. Minnesota is going to move up. Iowa is going to fall to at least 4th. The only question is how far they drop compared to how much UNI gains for beating Missouri. Minnesota was only ahead of UNI 366 to 359. UNI has better wins than Iowa and is undefeated. The two of them are going to be #4 and #5 tomorrow. Only question is which one is ahead. Its going to be close either way.

UNI has beaten the #6 and #7 teams and is undefeated.

Iowa's has beaten #9 and #10 and has lost to #1 and #4

It's a 10 coach poll (given that there are only 10 first place votes), Penn State has 400 points and there are 7000 points total if you add up all the points among the teams that got votes. So the number of points is obviously 40 for first place and it goes down by 1 point all the way to 16 points for a twenty-fifth place vote. At 390 that means Iowa got all 10 second place votes last week. With Cornell at 375, Minnesota at 366, and UNI at 359 that means that there wasn't total agreement among the voters for 3-4-5. Iowa isn't going to receive a single vote for greater than 3rd. So their maximum for tomorrow is 380 points. At 359 there means there was at least one voter putting UNI at lower than 5th place (my guess is they got 9 fifth place votes and 1 coach put them 6th), which will likely change with their win. Plus at least a few voters will probably put them higher than Iowa and maybe also Minnesota just for being undefeated.

If I had to bet I'd guess that it'll be Iowa in 4th with about 367 votes and UNI in 5th with about 365. But one or two ballots could easily swap that.
