clonedude, you are wrong and are being an idiot. The staff spent years recruiting Vaughn because he is a program changer and him just committing would be huge. There is no downside to Vaughn. Stop with your negative bs and just accept we will have to find a transfer to take on the role the staff had planned for RV.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

If all of our speculation is true, that it was UNLV all along, then why string Hoiberg and Matt along all this time? How much money did they spend traveling down there, and the time investment. I know that is how the recruiting game is played, but it doesn't make it right, it is not ethical. Frankly, I don't believe he has been undecided all this time, I think this has been in the bag for months. Now if I am wrong and the kid truly has been struggling trying to decide and this was a straight up battle between the schools until the end, then I take back what I said.

That happens all the time. Every recruit that you want, but don't get, ends up being money wasted. That's just how it is.

Just because we were on him the longest, doesn't mean he has to commit here. He can go wherever he wants.

So would it really be surprising if these same kids would rather spend their one year of college in Vegas versus Ames, Iowa? C'mon. Hoiberg is an awesome coach, but the problem is he lives and coaches in Ames, Iowa. That's not very glamorous for some of these guys.

I hope Vaughn bucks the trend, and ISU finally lands one of these guys, but I'm not holding my breath.

Clearly one of the ISU coaches ****** him off.

Redline...You are always trying to stir up trouble at ISU! Why don't you find another school to taunt. Your “Clearly one of the ISU coaches ****** him off.” comment is ridiculous!

It was stated by a few others in this thread. Grow up.

I've been consistent in saying that I would love nothing more than if Vaughn commits to ISU. As you correctly state, just what he'd do for our recruiting would be amazing. There really is no downside at all to him committing to us, I'm just saying that getting him does not automatically mean we will win more games. We very well could, but it's not a sure thing.

Some of the best teams in college basketball are the senior laden teams where the guys have played together for 4 years and have built an amazing team chemistry. That isn't required to be really good, but sometimes it does help. That's all I'm saying.

Chances of him throwing people for a loop by unfollowing them? I mean he seems to be the one concerned about this thing being a secret, why would he do something so obvious?

Can we still panic tho? Or do we have to build a time machine, go back to the minute of the unfollow and panic then?
Cyfanatic was founded on panic and nut checks. Even after a commitment, the panic still remains

Yeah, players of this caliber just do not come to Ames. We should probably consider it a victory that we even made his final list.

I've already convinced myself that it will now just be a pleasant surprise if he does come here, but I'm fully expecting he won't. I've moved on.

With that being said, we have two open schollies for next year. So who do you think we'll get?

Terrible attitude. Look at Hoiberg's last couple classes and tell me he isn't getting better and better players coming here. If he continues to have success on the court, landing a player like Rashad Vaughn isn't a question of when, not if. Great players are attracted to great programs, and we're on our way. Take your defeatist attitude elsewhere. This program has moved beyond moral victories. We should be disappointed if Vaughn signs elsewhere because ISU is becoming a destination for players with NBA aspirations. I hope he picks ISU on Tuesday just so you and the other pessimists posting in this thread can eat crow.

He is as close a guarantee as there is and to insinuate that he would be a chemistry problem is typical clonedude bs. We can win without Vaughn and we will try and get something close with a transfer, but stop with trying to cope by marginalizing Vaughn's impact. There is a reason why our staff has recruited him harder than any recruit in program history. You should have saved them the time and called in last year to let them know.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

If UNLV were to land him, the Rebels would have three top-25 recruits in the bag, with Vaughn joining shot-blocker Goodluck Okonoboh and five-star forward Dwayne Morgan. On the other side, Vaughn would be the best recruit of head coach Fred Hoiberg's tenure, and could take the Cyclones to another level next season.

Did anyone else realize this? Just now took the time to look it up, but it makes sense that he would want to go there, for all those people saying, "why would he want to go to UNLV." Both are great opportunities for him. We will see what happens Tuesday.
