I know some of you have opinions on Leath given the Bubu situation but he runs circles around Sally Mason. She's been on thin ice with the regents for awhile now and it's probably time to let her move on.

U-I president’s remarks on sexual asault draw criticism
While I believe Mason is a weak, weak president....and that the UI is a cesspool of liberalism, there is almost NOTHING said these days that doesn't "offend" someone. Outside the "People's Republic of Johnson County", most people read her comments and simply disagree. Inside the Republic, it's necessary to hold signs in front of a speaker and disrupt the event. It's all part of the show on campus.

I read it as misspeaking. I understand what she was trying to say, but the way it came off wasn't what she intended.

I have no problem with what she said. All those people will sign that petition and it will probably happen again. People are so touchy these days.

Looks to me to be a complete over reaction. Take 25000 young adults. Give them too much booze (ui). And tell me there will never be a sexual assualt. I think her comment Was more that there are *** hats out there no matter what. Not blaming anyone else.

I get where the anger is coming from, but I'm surprised there aren't more guys speaking out saying it isn't in our nature to sexually assault women. At the same time, I think she just misspoke. I don't think she meant to say human nature as much as there will always be entitled ******** who can't take no for an answer

I've now come to the conclusion that most posters on CF would also make poor University presidents.

I agree she misspoke and, in isolation, that would be forgivable. But she has a history of stepping over her own feet.

She's being a realist in the most liberal city in Iowa. No problems here. More surprised than anything. Not getting on board with this making her a bad person.

You know, it's funny you say that. The minute one of those "liberals" says something insulting to your side, you play the victim card just as quickly. It isn't a partisan thing. Get over it.

Hey, hey...the "people's republic" is Iowa City...we generally keep most of the hippies and commies in the pen. Sure one sneaks out once in a while, but for the most part, they like to keep close to their cooperative grocery stores with dried up weeds and sunflower seeds and astrological postcards.

Really...would hippes have Beef days like Solon? Or Sauerkraut days like Lisbon? Methinks not. I ain't seen a tofu days, or patcholi days yet.

You are correct. I've been to both (Beef and Sauerkraut Days) and it is Iowa. Iowa City? Not even close. I stand corrected.

By the way, how do you like paying huge taxes to support "the pen"?
