I like Huggins...enjoyed watching his Cincinnati teams back in the day too. He is fun to root against but I always enjoyed watching his teams because they play hard. He is a coach that will flat-out tell you his job is to win games and that is how he will be judged. Sure the "student-athlete" BS is stuff coaches have to say...but no coach who lost a lot of games year after year held on to his job long-term because his players graduated. Huggins isn't afraid to be real about D1 athletics. That said...we have ourselves a first-class all-around coach...so it can't get better that CFH!

Ya we get the picture. That's the way Huggins is a little like Bob Knight but I am still not convinced because of CFH's reaction to Huggins comment not the other way around. At the end of the day we won and that's all that matters.

Fred and Huggy joking around in the corridor later really doesn't prove anything. We will never know what was actually said because Fred is too much of a gentleman to say. It really doesn't matter anyway. I hope it was about the students by the visiting team's tunnel. Anyone associated with WVU has no room to complain based on what it is like at their arena. This old fuddy-duddy hopes that the students over there did get under their skin.

Huggins was watching Kane. Then the last few seconds Kane went to the basket and Huggins was pointing at him. Did Kane make the basket cause the camera cut to the coaches?

What I don't like about Huggins has nothing to do with that. I think his brand of mug them constantly because the refs can't call them all basketball is bad for the sport. I also have zero respect with how he constantly works the refs and berates them even when he is getting more calls than his opponent. I'm sure that he gets some quick trigger fingers from refs on the T's because they get sick of getting abused for two hours every time they work one of his games.

Sure he cares for his players which was evident when he comforted his player after a season ending injury; kudos to him for that. That doesn't change the fact that his mugging ball belongs in the Big 10.

This exactly. His constant whining to the officials the entire game is pathetic. Of course he cares about his own players, is that surprising and worth extra credit?? He should have been gone in the first half, it's just that refs are scared to toss anyone because of the follow-up they have to do with the conference.

I thought he was probably pointing at Brackens and asking Fred if he could set him up with that hot girl after the game.

I'm a student at WVU and I think it's pretty funny and mild compared to what we did to them while they were here a few weeks ago. Things got out of hand toward the end.

Kane did NOT go to the basket for a shot. He was high up the court near centerline, and was going to just dribble out the game clock (shot clock was off). WVU kept guarding tight, maybe trying to force him over the line but not really fouling hard. They also attempted a steal. Kane broke from center court, but made NO attempt to shoot...just moving away from the hands.

I could certainly understand him complaining about the refs. That is the most animated I've seen Fred get towards the refs. Huggy was yelling at them all night too. It would make sense that Hugs would comment on the poor reffing, knowing Fred was also "underwhelmed."

Btw, I think it got overlooked because we got the W, but that game was horribly officiated. A ton of bad calls went both ways. Walters is right, the refs seemed to be making the game about themselves.

All due respect, I don't really think they were trying to make it about themselves. They were just trying to keep control of it. Seem it was very handsy and in your grill both ways. With both sides chirping and complaining too much for my liking. I thought the game was too physical. and it would have been really hard to officiate. I was more concerned that we were going to get a player dinged up for the games that really matter.
all in all it was fair game so not a lot to complain about when they don't change the outcome.

Cue Weatherwax! If he wants to complain about a fan, Huggie's next visit could include an in your face moment with him!

I kid.

One of those things....HOPEFULLY a fan didn't say something that was beyond being a passionate fan.

I don't think I would want to get in the face of Huggins. While I don't know what the fan said Huggins wasn't too happy about what he was saying I guess.
