Too bad we don't have McKay or someone like that coming in next season.

Kansas has seven players 6'7 or taller. Are they a fair comparison? Of course not. The lack of size on this team and Fred's other teams has cost us a lot of games. He says it after every loss. None of us has any clue how effective McKay will be. We all think he's the next Cato. Hopefully he is. He's one player. It's undeniable that we need more length to start winning some of the games... especially on the road. It's the only thing holding us back from knocking on KU's door.

This was the most active I've seen our zone all season. Brady Heslip seemed like he got a hand on just about every High Post entry pass and that hasn't happened that often this year. If we play defense with that kind of effort and intensity the rest of the way, we are going to be tough...

It seemed like we were trying to force it into the lane. Maybe it was your guys messing us up, but we just didn't seem to be in sync with our entry passes. Yet, we kept trying. I would have switched to something else, such as more driving moves. If nothing else, we would have gotten you into foul more so that we would have been shooting free throws at the end.

Learning experience for George, Melvin should know better...love to know what went on last night

Frankly, regardless of what seed we get in the big dance, if we play like the way we have been playing recently we could very well go down in the 1st round!

Correct. Gotta shake this off and clear the heads and play smart ball (Like the Texas game). No hero ball, play smart and hit the got hand.

Honestly, seeding in the big 12 tourney isn't supe important if we can get a first round bye, league is deep.

But in the big dance, off our game by much and it'd be easy to lose to a hot Cinderella.

Mel and Georges wet the bed tonight and we lost the game. Both very good players, but they were brutal tonight. You can admit it.

Ejim scores a good part of his points off rebounds and quick passes down low. Tonight Baylor took that away and did a good job rebounding, so yes Ejim struggled.

For those saying that 11-7 this year is the same as last year need to remember that the conference is MUCH improved. Its a dogfight every night out. If you don't think that this team is more battle tested then you are wrong, plain and simply wrong. You have to remember most teams havn't had to deal with a guy like Deandre or Georges (he is gonna be huge next game) and the overall toughness of Melvin. We should be fine. And for those saying saying we are a sweet 16 team at best, guess what I'll take it today, tomorrow and forever, I'll take my chances in a sweet 16 game after Fred has had 5 days or so to dissect another team and to identify mismatches.

Thank you. Two years ago the conference was not good. Last year it was OK. This year it's the best in the country. We're not playing that well right now, but a lot can change. For the last two seasons we got bounced in the conf. tourney in convincing fashion, two years ago to a bad Texas team, yet absolutely demolished our first round opponent. When I start to get down about the season I think of A) 2006-2010 and B) The day I heard Ejim injured his knee.

LOL Why is it stupid, when in your post you admit at worst a 6. Pretty stupid to all someone else that and then say the same thing.

You said something about a 7 seed, or at least I'm pretty sure you did. I'm too lazy to go back and check, so I apologize if you didn't.

I agree; there might be some time to adjust after sitting out 1.5 seasons. I've seen the diff with players like Kane who have do not sit for a season and come in to contribute immediately

Are people really complaining about Fred not bringing players in with length? We will have plenty of length next year with Nader and McKay. (Nader seems to have a pretty long wingspan)

Nader plays on the perimeter. He averaged five rebounds on a crappy team. He's shorter than Melvin and not near the jumper. McKay should help. We need a couple more like him.

We finally hit some 3's, and then 2 of our 3 bigs have an off game (vs the KSU game). When we pull it all together we are one tough team to beat.

Yes! but it has never happened. Not really with all 5 starters playing well and getting legit bench points.

Agree with you, Mel was struggling tonight with his shots and Georges was turnover prone on passes. Guess my point was that more times than not over the course of the season Mel and Georges have come through in the clutch. Tonight they didn't and I can accept that in light of their overall season-long body of work. Prediction:solid bounce-back game by both vs. the Cowpokes.

I don't see this team doing much in the Big 12 tourney or the NCAA. I really don't.

We have to realize they are only 8-7 in their last 15 games. Nothing much to get too excited about.

Even with a win against Okie State Saturday, I don't think they will be any higher than a 5 seed at best and more likely they will be a 6 or 7 seed. They are not a very good team away from Hilton.

Then you, and the rest of these "fans" should be happy that you can quit wasting your time watching Iowa State basketball.

Good to know. I was thinking Nader was 6'7". Haven't seen him play yet, mostly going off what other say about him.

Good for Kansas. The bluebloods get their pick of bigs and the rest of the teams have to fight over what is left. Its just the way it is. Every time Fred is going to take an athletic 6'6 player over 6'10 player that cannot play in his system. Fred has won a lot of games without an athletic big.

One guy can make a huge difference. That Kane guys sure has. Put McKay on this team, and what how big of a difference would that make.

Actually in Ames this year we couldn't hit the broad side of a barn otherwise we would have blown KU out, In Lawerence, it was a good game. Last year, well you know what happened. I'd say we are knocking on the KU door, we typically have played them very tough in Fred's tenure despite the talent disparity.

Here is the thing we aren't ever going to out recruit KU consistently, and with Bill Self there, likely never. It does no good to try and matchup with them, we need to create the mismatches unconventionally with things like an inverted offense, dragging big men out to the perimeter etc. Its how we are going to stay competitive and beat them. I feel the reason we beat KU consistently in the Eustachy years was because Roy Williams is no Bill Self when it comes to caching, now Bill is outrecruiting Roy too.

this crew didn't call many fouls on anyone (except Niang) all night...

I still think Baylor was committed to disrupting your passes in the paint and was willing to give up 3's in order to make your life difficult inside. Heslip, Chery and Franklin were constantly dropping down and making life hard on the high post player...and even with Kane raining down threes they stayed with it. I also thought Austin and Jefferson were excellent tonight not giving up easy looks...making your bigs earn everything they got.

sorry folks, I realize length can make up for a lot, but Georges and Mel and one off night. If we can hit the outside shots like tonight AND get our Big 3 in sync, we can beat length.

Easy to say, but the taller HS players are, the more overvalued and overrecruited they become. The competition for 6'10 and taller guys is ridiculous. Unless you are a blueblood (or Scott Drew) you are usually going to get at best a project, at worst a total bust. To get the program rolling CFH has decided to get guys that he knows have skill and figure out how to take advantage of matchups to minimize the length difference.
