A lot of you overreact like I use to. We still are a 5 seed at worst in the NCAA Tourney. Relax.

Some of us care less about the number next to the team and more about how the team is playing.

A 5 seed does the team we just saw no good. Those who chalk it up to an ordinary road loss in a difficult conference must not have been watching.

Negative Nancy out. Enjoy your rosy expectations.

Ummm yeah if we win Saturday and win a game in Kansas City. Don't hold your breath

Most "bracketologists" had us as the best 3 seed just a short week ago. Most have us at around a 4 seed right now. Winning against quality opponents in consecutive weeks will at the very least help us hold serve in the seed department

I'm as disappointed as anybody at the loss tonight, but most smart bracket makers are still fairly high on ISU. Lose out and that will be a totally different story however.

A 5 seed is perfect for this team. Look, they're getting it out of their system now. 2 game losing streak that will (should) end on Saturday. Pick up at least 1 win in the B12 Tourney and a 5 seed will be wrapped up, and we'll be fine, even if we lose in the Big 12 semis again. The hard knocks are being taken now; this team will hit its stride again. Looked great for the first 30 minutes tonight. Lost the game in the last 10 or so.

It's amazing what a couple of decent years do to people at ISU. This is what, 3rd tourney appearance in a row? How many times has that happened at ISU? It's amazing how many people here think ISU has always been this basketball powerhouse and we can't understand why ISU is still building. You are probably the same people mocking the Hawkeyes for unrealistic expectations. The Jeckyll and Hyde mentality on this board is frightening.

Where were we picked by most pundants to finish this season in the Big 12? Making the tournament at all is still a big deal at ISU.
If I hadn't seen this team play really well for most of the season, I would not give a ****. But watching them play like blockheads when you know they are capable of more is what is disappointing. No one is saying we've had a bad season.

We didn't "look great" for 30 minutes, but we were in the game for 38 minutes. Those last two minutes on the road stung us again. Hopefully, we are learning to hate losing and how to grab the win in those last two minutes.

Ding! Ding! Ding! How anybody can be ok with this performance happening with tournament time coming up fast has their head deep in the sand.

Some food for thought. Here are the in conference road records in the Big 12:

Kansas 5-3
Texas 3-5
Iowa State 3-6
Oklahoma 4-4
Kansas St. 2-7
Oklahoma St. 2-6
Baylor 3-5
West Virginia 3-5

Winning road games in the Big 12 seems to be a challenge for every team not named Kansas. I'm not sure why this is such a big shock for some people on here. Of course we could all keep looking for other reasons like Ejim's sleep schedule or Niang's pregame diet.

I must admit, ever since the game in Stillwater, Iowa State has not been playing good, collective team basketball. It is either Ejim, Niang, or Kane carrying the team on their back. We are just not seeing a balanced offensive output from our players. And you can apply the same concept to the defensive end of the floor as well.

If the Cyclones play TEAM basketball, sharing the ball, spreading the floor they can be an extremely dangerous team.

If certain players want to be the heros of the game, and impress NBA scouts playing individually we will surely implode come big dance time. No question!

I don't know about that. We play well at home and poorly on the road. It's been that way since Johnny Orr with the exception of the Tinsley years.

Syracuse is about to lose to Georgia Tech at home. That is meltdown worthy.

This is not.

So basically, if you hit your thumb with a hammer, go ahead and drop an anvil on your head so you can realize that hammering your thumb isn't the worst that could happen?

Even the victories over Texas and West Virginia I wasn't overly impressed on how they shared the ball, or making that extra pass.

Call me a pessimist, or just overreacting but there are some glaring issues with this team this late in the season .

Thankfully NCAA games aren't road games where one team has a clear home court advantage (in most cases). Both teams will be away from campus, sleeping in hotels, dealing with distractions. ISU did just fine in the tourney in Hawaii.

Yeah, the issue was the tough road environments at Baylor and TCU killing our team. I'll give you Manhattan. The Hawaii tournament was a lifetime ago, and the competition wasn't NCAA caliber. The team I have seen on the court over the last couple weeks is not a team poised to make a run in the conference and NCAA tourneys.

Well then I'm sure your lovely wife and children will enjoy all of the extra time with you since you knew the end result of the season already so you can stop watching.

I can't believe these players have a bad game here and there. Shame on them! My guess is they all are just ready for VEISHEA and are packing it in for the year. It was fun while it lasted.

Idiots.

We play/played the two hottest teams in the Big 12 for our last two games. Just gotta beat OSU. Not pleased with the effort tonight but I think they'll get it fixed.
