What if we fired off that cannon we use on kickoffs? That would scare people away.
My dad was in that fraternity back in the day. He told me they used to fire that thing off down Lincoln Way after big wins.

Assuming the kid does make it, then the charge would be along the lines of reckless endangerment. Involuntary manslaughter would still require the kid to die.
Exactly, which is what the person I was replying to was assuming.
He was saying he should be charged with attempted manslaughter, if he dies. Which isn't even an actual charge. He was just mixing up the word attempted with involuntary.
I guess I don't really have a dog in the fight but I'd rather see them take that effort than lose a tradition.
Agreed, VEISHEA is an awesome thing. I also think it should be a fun time to enjoy the spring, drinking, and the school celebration. But just drink and have fun, no point in the other stuff.
I realize that's a lot easier said than done. I don't know how you put constraints on things, especially with so many out of towners and non students.
You could somehow control Welch as that is where it seems to happen, but how is the question.
Barricade and ID Check. Why can't some kids learn to binge and pass out like the rest of us?Agreed, VEISHEA is an awesome thing. I also think it should be a fun time to enjoy the spring, drinking, and the school celebration. But just drink and have fun, no point in the other stuff.

Oh well then that means you guys didn't do any damage.

Increase the penalties for students, tell greeks there will be penalties if an active gets arrested for riot type of activity, patrol/shut down/monitor age of welch ave and campustown... Could these things work?
See, right there, "you guys" your'e grouping. If one Greek ****s up they all ****. Your logic is severely flawed.
I was never there in the 90's, but the way I understand that, VEISHEA used to like a large beer garden on campus, and there were multiple beer stands set up over campus. VEISHEA itself does not sell alcohol anymore, but obviously the bars/stores/etc still do.
I guess I don't really have a dog in the fight but I'd rather see them take that effort than lose a tradition.
Well we can't just blame the Greeks. I am a member in a fraternity and I can tell you that non of my brothers were rioting. Yes we watched the riot but we never threw anything or flip cars. I spent the night sober since I have a test today, but I spent the night walking girls homes so no creepy ****s got any ideas.
I've said multiple times that it's 3-4 frats/sororities. You're the one that keeps bringing up dumb instances.
Honestly, "Yeah we party, damn right, but we raise money, too."
Pretty ******* cool.
So just throwing out a question. At what point does someone become uninvolved? Do they have to be a certain distance away? Not chanting? Not throwing stuff? What about the people on their balconies recording and chanting? Are they involved?
