If ISU is rebuilding in that one year? No. But ISU is stacked next year and Diallo may be the piece that puts them over the top.
Assuming everyone returns, we are probably over the top with or without. He would just be a big sweet cherry on the top:
Thats just it, though Everyone assumes he is just waiting to see what happens with KU and UK players, but if Georges and McKay return that is an established front court. Tough to crack the starting line up. The status of those two could mean just as much to whether ISU is a factor in the spring as anything else.

That's nice as a cute saying but absurd in reality. Diallo is an elite rim protector and aggressive rebounder that would give ISU a MUCH better shot at big time results.Assuming everyone returns, we are probably over the top with or without. He would just be a big sweet cherry on the top:

I'm a little surprised no one reported seeing him riding around in a golf cart with Freddy through the student lots. They were stopping and talking to students and taking pictures and stuff. Pretty cool.
C'mon man.
So you are telling me he would automatically start over McKay and Niang? Forget Niang, they don't even play similar roles. But its not a given he would start over McKay, especially to start the season. Iowa state fans should understand the value of having a physically developed older player more than any other fan base. And he would have a better understanding of the system. Sorry, Chieck looks like a real good player with tons of potential, but he doesn't look like some kind of transcendent recruit who is going to come in and dominate at a Big XII level right from the start.
Boy do I hope McKay is as good as you hope he is. Simply "being older" doesn't just automatically make you better at everything. If you had to say right now who would be the person Diallo could most likely beat out for a starting spot, who would you pick? Cliff Alexander in his 2nd year at KU, whichever Top 10 recruit decides to pass up NBA lottery money from UK in his 2nd year or McKay in his 2nd year at ISU? That's why people see it this way. It's not JUST about McKay.So you are telling me he would automatically start over McKay and Niang? Forget Niang, they don't even play similar roles. Do you really think that Alexander is going to stick around for 2 years? Same with whoever is starting at UK. There's probably a better chance of having an established starter returning at ISU than at UK or KU.
Tuco is 100% correct...Diallo isn't worried about McKay in his decision and quite frankly there are people within the program that don't expect Georges to be back. Not that I agree with that but I don't think Diallo is worried about playing time at ISU even if Dime commits
Now we are reading Diallo's mind? I agree that he probably isn't "worried" but he has to evaluate minutes wherever he considers signing.
