Well, today is the day. Going in to get my vasectomy done this afternoon. Not going to lie, I am pretty nervous about the idea of someone putting a branding iron in my junk. I overreacting, right?

I had it done in January. It is no big deal. I drove myself in and drove myself home.

A couple days with frozen veggies and your good. Biggest advice is don't over do it the next couple of days and there won't be any issue.

One other piece of advice. Tell the wife right now that she is in charge of the kids for the next two days. My doctor recommended I make that very clear to my wife. You need to rest as much as you can and there will be almost zero pain. The last thing you need is to be chasing around or picking up kids and even worse having one of them jump on you.

I set up shop on the couch and binge watched movies when the kids weren't around. When the kids were home we had a no daddy rule. The two older ones were allowed to sit by me if our youngest wasn't in the room. But our two year old had a 5 foot rule on her.

Taking the bullets out of the gun...

For the fellas that have had this done, does this tend to make the wife a little less "gun shy?"

It's definitely helped. It has made everything less stressful on her end. My wife had gone back on the pill and with the health concerns of being on it in their 30's I went ahead and did it so she could stop.

TMI answer but it is the main reason I had it done.

I had the procedure last Friday and am sitting at home right now with ice on my nuts. Word of advice, take it easy and try to stay off your feet for several days. I stained my deck Monday (3 days after the procedure) and am still paying for it.

Listen to this man!!! My doctor told me that you will feel pretty good a day or two after the procedure but that doesn't mean you are 100%. I laid on couch/recliner for a good 3 days and took it easy for the next couple after that and had zero issues.

I've had friends jump right back into life like Oak did and they had weeks of pain because of it.

Even if the Mrs. is frisky in the week after don't do it. You aren't safe until you prove you are shooting blanks and there is a lot of tender tissue that will be sure to make you pay for it later.

Yeah, I'm a little over a year past it, and all is well, it's been a great choice. One weird piece of advice, I was kind of blindsided how outside temptation had a noticeable spike for a small length of time after I had mine done, perhaps the removal of one bad consequence, I suppose. Nothing happened out of it, but I was kind of shocked how I had temptations I hadn't had before. So, just keep that in mind, don't get blindsided and end up in a bad situation.

Admittedly, this may not be that common, but I would have felt better knowing that possibility beforehand.
