Some players won't be happy about their minutes. Just how it is.
As Matt A said in the podcast - winning solves that.

my worry is defense. no matter how talented/fast we are, we're going to have to stop people.

may I introduce you to Mr Morris, Mr Hogue and Mr McKay?
Don't forget to introduce Mr. Long.
My theory:
Poorer players get less minutes
Poorer players leave program
Open Scholly's for better players
Competition resumes anew
This program is survival of the ballingest; put up numbers and defend and if not then leave or take on the Ellerman role and keep your damn mouth shut. There will be no whining about minutes.
This explains precisely one of the big differences between ISU football and ISU basketball IMO.
All these years when Rhoads would be SO afraid to ever announce a starting QB up until the last week before the first game.... or when his depth charts would have about 8 "OR's" on it at various positions because he was afraid of offending some kid or something?
Fred doesn't care. If you're good enough, you will earn your minutes, and if you don't and aren't happy about it, then you can leave and we'll replace you with someone else better, no skin off our back. And that is why our basketball team is so good. Competition is at such a high level.
It's a little easier to do that in basketball than in football lol.
I don't care about minutes..not one bit.

Dang, you beat me to it  Although I was gonna use 'seconds.'I also tend to not care a lot about minutes. I do, however, find myself getting a bit anxious about hours.

Fred hasn't gone deeper than 7-8 guys getting regular minutes during his time in Ames. I'll believe he's willing to go deeper when I see it.
