How far are we willing to go to win?

One of the glaring problems we have are linemen. I am sure we can agree with that. My question is should CPR have dismissed Rodney Coe and David Irving? They obviously would have been great help this year. How do we proceed with guys like this. I guess the question is which is more important winning or integrity to the fans of ISU.

"Honor before victory" is the type of slogan losers hold on to in order to rationalize why they suck. It's the equivalent to iowa fan's claiming they're "doing it the right way" in MBB. Nah, you just aren't good and that's an excuse.

As far as football goes, Just win, don't care how. Cheat like crazy, what are they going to do take away all of our conference championships?

Rumor has circulated for two seasons now that players lacking discipline is the biggest issue in this program.

When you got kids beating up their girlfriends and tearing up stop signs AFTER they know they're on a fine line, we don't need them in our program.

To answer your question, No. They shouldn't have been kicked off.

If you're Alabama and your best players at a position do something stupid do you think they kick them off the team? Absolutely not.

Having Coe and Irving don't all of the sudden make this season any better. 1 more win? Possibly, but I think that's a stretch.

If they can run a 4.2 and have all the intangibles to make a significant impact on the field, sure we do.

LOL at everybody who thinks those two were world-beaters. They weren't. They were idiots.

You also have to remember that if we had those two, we don't have Jensen. They were a cancer on the team in terms of attitude and moral. I don't think we win any more games with them playing, and perhaps we lose more.

I thought it was interesting when reading tweets from Nebraska players; I cant remember which, but one of them commented on "yeah right, do you know how hard it is to get people to come here?". For the Midwest I actually believe that Lincoln has come a long ways as far as College allure goes, and if Lincoln is a hard sell for anything more than 9 win teams, Ames is a real bear.

Places like Waco suck, but we know that the weather keeps a lot of talent in the South regardless of the town.

Hopefully its time that Paul realizes that we have to go the JUCO route in order to be successful. Those guys don't care where they play, as long as they get a chance to make it.

Tad Ecby having to be sat down by the Head Coach to actually try in practice seems to correlate this. Especially on Offense these guys aren't preparing to compete in the Big 12. Coaches can only do so much. They still seem to have a hangover from the Messingham years of futility. Some of the players need to step up and lead. You can see it in Sam and the Offense body language on the field.

You do realize we're not exactly lighting the world on fire with JUCOs right? There's a reason most of them end up at JUCO...they aren't very good of football players and JUCOs for the most part do a terrible job developing them or they didn't qualify out of high school and if they continue to develop (unlikely) the big boys will pick them up to fill a need. Are there exceptions to the rule? Absolutely. Are the majority of them going to contribute on a decent team? Nope.

Frankly, our coaches' abilities to analyze talent has been pretty pathetic for the most part.

THIS. Everybody needs to remember that the TEAM wanted Coe off because of his attitude. The Team had two separate votes and he failed both times.

I agree with analyzing talent, seems like since we lost Chris Ash and Tom Herman that our eye for developmental talent has fallen off.

JUCOs are always going to be hit and miss, but at least when you miss with them you are only stuck with them for 2 years. It eliminates always being a "young" team.

(Also wish Rhoads would have kept Scott Fountain around for longer than a year)

I am not saying that we would have won more games, but it would have helped depth. My question is how far are we willing to go to be winners and what kind of BS are we willing to put up with to get there.

Of course it's not that simple. The kind of BS that Irving and Coe brought isn't the kind that gets you closer to winning, it's the kind that tears a team apart.
