George put on a clinic tonight. Unfortunately I foresee Morris and Niang being gone after this season. Gonna be huge holes to fill.

No. Morris isn't a good enough shooter and Georges isn't athletic enough to leave early. NBA scouts look for more than just who is good at college ball to decide who they take in the draft.

The only two guys going to th NBA next year from the game last night are BDJ (maybe) and Bobby Portis (definitely). Niang isn't the same kind of player as Ejim, but he is in a similar situation where they're too small for a 4 in the NBA and not quick enough to be a 3 either. The best thing Niang can do is stay in school another year and work on getting himself into NBA-ready shape. Morris is in no way, shape, or form an NBA draft pick yet. He's still a twig and his shot isn't good enough. He's going to be here at least one more year after this one.

Some groundbreaking new information for you: Georges Niang was teammates in high school with Nerlens Noel. I was just as shocked as everyone else last night to hear this for the first time ever.

Let's call him Georges Niangsmith, please.

Just to clarify here, "Niasmith" was a trolling nickname from the Arkansas boards leading up to this game when they were attempting to mock ISU for talking up such a mediocre player. After all, Niang was a "third option" at best for ISU.

Niang maybe, but with his character I see him sticking around and becoming the greatest Cyclone of all time...no way Morris is going anywhere next season. BDJ is soooooo NBA ready$$$. Love his game and team attitude. The BDJ/Vaughn deal with UNLV has turned out awesome!!

Funny what a little coaching and a guy that knows how to get the most out of players can change a talented guy into a stud. Jones has grown so much as a team player since the beginning of the season. I am sure there were some UNLV fans watching last night that were wondering why Jones was never that good when he played for the Rebels.

Doesn't seem like he's as bad as some Arkansas fans thought...

But only 66% from 3 last night.

It will be interesting to see with Niang if we will get the "One more year" chants that we so loud with Fizer.
I kind of expect Niang to stick around for all four years. He really seems to like ISU and he could still develop even more as a player (which is a scary thought for the rest of the league).

Add me to the we'll have Niang next year bandwagon. He has too much character to leave.

I don't think taking an opportunity to fulfill a life-long dream makes someone "low character." I wouldn't hold it against any of our guys for taking their chance in the NBA, whenever that was, if they have thought it out, consulted Fred, and decided that was their best option.

I do feel bad when it later turns out that they made a mistake, like Royce. If he had stuck around for the 2012-2013 season, maybe he would have matured some more (and won a few games).

This. Good character aside, if your dream job showed up and gave you millions of dollars, you'd have to be in idiot not to take it, especially as an athlete. He could come back to ISU, get injured, have a poor season, or get fat again and watch his stock drop.

I love ISU and want him to stay, just like I wanted Fizer and Royce to stay, however understood why they left and wouldn't hold it against them.

I spoke to an NBA scout the other night and I asked him if there is anybody he thinks will go to the NBA this year from ISU. He told me he didn't think there would be anybody this year, but of course that can all change.

And as far as the Nerlens Noel comments I think we need to flip flop it and let people know Noel played with Niang and that's how Noel got so good.

They were sure fun to watch last night! Lets enjoy the ride!

This. If they can make money and fulfill a lifetime dream, more power to them. I just hope they stick around long enough to see their dream through, and not be a bust.

Georges doesn't owe us anything. If he leaves we will all be his #1 fan for the NBA. It is actually a question of our character to be selfish and call him out for making a big life decision on his part.

FWIW, I think he and Morris are both here next year and we make a Final 4 run before Georges is gone. Also think he ends up being an AA this year and National POY next year.

I don't think it would hurt his character to go pro either, but I also think because of his character he values his college career. I also think he realizes that he will probably have problems finding a good fit in the NBA.

I won't be mad at him if he goes, but I would be surprised if he does.

There are other routes to living a dream...stick around 4 years, get your degree, become an icon, and return some day to run the show for ISU. I would love to see Niang take over the helm in 20 years when Fred decides to retire.

Maybe that isn't his dream though. You can't decide that for him.

Not arguing with that. Just saying that calling a guy low character because he makes a decision that he thinks is the best way to advance his career - just because he's leaving your favorite college team - seems pretty dumb IMO.

What if his dream is playing in the NBA?
