It is too bad that the police pursued the drug charge and that it was made public. If only the noise related charge had been reported, I think no one would be calling for a suspension.

I say you don't start him Friday as punishment for embarassing the University. Then you run his butt off at practice starting Saturday to make sure he understands the expectations of being on the team.

Seriously? Why in the **** would anyone be up at 3:30am on a Wednesday night? Everyone has to sleep, might as well do it when the rest of the world is too.

To smoke a **** ton of pot and keep all your neighbors awake, forcing them to call the cops for the sixth time in 3 months.

I don't know if I sit a guy for a noise complaint. I'd make him move into Cornell Mann's basement until season is over.

What about sitting him for putting the team and coaching staff through all of this drama the day before a rivalry game? Fred is dealing with this garbage instead of game planning. Nobody cares about the noise, they care about the stupidity displayed.

4:00 pm press conference means likely suspension. BDJ will likely be suspended 2-5 games but back for the conference. More concerned that Nader's potential involvement could find him suspended for much longer. More issues for this team off the court then ever before for Fred. Just think if it is handled internally there is no need for a press conference.

If I was Cornell, I would help him find a farmhouse in rural Story County to rent.

Do you still sit him? Does Fred want players to have 5 police calls to their place? Up at 3:30am on a Wednesday night?

I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play and I'm OK with that.

Despite the old adage, from my own experience- A LOT of good things happen after midnight!

Relax on my 3:30 comment. I made it along with the comment about 5 police calls. i.e…as in a collection of concerns. It means nothing on its own, but may mean something when considered with other factors.

It is 3:30am, you live in an apartment with other residents and being loud without any regard for anyone else but your own selfish desire to have good time. Anyone want to bet against there being some sort of a “good character” rule as part of the team rules?

We don’t know how many times coach as already talked to him. This may be one of many and since it is so public, he suspends him to TRY and get through to him this time (assuming this is a pattern).

These calls for suspensions are getting crazy. Seriously even if he got charged with possession he would probably be back before conference.

Did you go to college? I would be up all night playing video games with my roommates all the time. Then sleep during certain classes and then head off to FB practice.

You must've had a hell of a time in college with all your other "good character" friends.

Ehh. Dunno. This has been quite the soap opera so far and I would think fred wants to be crystal clear what happened and why he's giving punishment or if not why. Doesn't mean anything other than he wants to state the facts clearly and as a PR person I get it and makes sense.

With the drug charges dropped I think the only punishment I'd give him is having him start the game on the bench and reducing his minutes for the next few games. It seems kinda weak to suspend him for a noise charge.

My vote would be sit him on the bench for the first half of the Iowa game along with a warning that if this continues suspensions will be handed out. It would send a message without being too severe and without screwing the team over too bad. There has to be some reprecussion. You can't let young players think its ok to be partying until 3 in the morning in the middle of the season. 20,21,22 year old college students are going to party from time to time but you gotta be smarter than that.
