I really hope he has a fast start. I have a feeling that if he has a similar first couple games to Nader, people may give up on him too soon. Maybe that is what he is trying to say. The fans are building up too big of expectations.

I expect McKay to play defense, get a few buckets a game, and most of all rock those luxurious dreads, if he does that I will be happy.

If McKay can handle a hot pass under the boards he won't have any problems. How many did Edozie lose a handle on last night, he looked like freshman Ejim with the butter fingers out there.

I like Greenberg and he is generally very supportive in ISU. As for the Tweet, I can see his perspective that McKay not being an outside shooter may limit his minutes. I personally don't agree as him being a D stopper in the Endozie role we saw Friday and moving Hogue to the 3 raises the ceiling of the starting team. That said, we haven't seen Jamaal play in a NCAA game yet, he still needs to get comforatable and earn his playing time. His impact will be felt but maybe not till conference season. Glad we have him and now it is time for him to show what he can to.

Wait so McKay isn't going to the NBA at the end of this season?

But really, how does anyone really know until he gets into a game? People are quick to say that Greenburg doesn't know what he's talking about, but what have we seen to know more? Let's take a step back on the hype machine and see what he brings before declaring him the last piece needed or even an every night starter.

We do this too often on this board and end up criticizing guys that don't live up to our inflated expectations.

People need to realize, we don't need 10-15 points from him. We need someone that can guard the post, grab the rebounds, shot blocker and relieve Niang of guarding the other teams big man.

I think it will take him some time, and it's not like he will be Embiid on D. We will all have to manage our expectations and not freak out when he doesn't get double doubles every night with 5 blocks.

We don't need a lot of points from McKay, and we definitely don't need him to be able to shoot the three. We need good defense, and a guy who can take the points he's given.

If people expect him to be the best player on the team immediately that's unfair, but he'll certainly have an impact on the team.

Jameel McKay's offensive skills > Daniel Edozie's offensive skills.

Daniel doesn't hurt our spacing.

+1 at a very minimum I don't think he's going to drop 4-5 perfect post feeds to him like Edozie did yesterday. Daniel has got to figure out to stop bringing the ball down to his hip everytime he gets the ball in the paint.

When was the last time ISU had an athletic big man? Kelvin Cato? Obviously people are excited and the expectations are high but it's not as if people are expecting McKay to play like an NBA Lottery pick. With that being said McKay will be a nice addition that will help on the boards, he should add another element to the team defensively, and with as many cheap buckets that Hogue and Niang get down low you have to imagine that McKay should be the recipient of some easy buckets in the post.

We're already really good. I could see how rolling in a new player mid-year may be like ripping the bandaid off. It hurts a little bit at first, but ultimately will be a really good thing for our team.

We saw that with Nader for sure.

Secondly, as you've seen with Nader, and basically every single transfer we've ever had, sitting out a year, (1.5 in the case of McKay) makes you rusty. I don't expect McKay to be hitting on all cylinders until the middle or end of the conference season.

That's why I could see him coming off the bench and slowly working in for the time being.

Either way, I think you can tell by the excitement from Fred and company, that McKay will have a really big impact for ISU this season.
