They also look stupid unless its a giant arena like the sprint center.

That's your opinion. I think Assembly Hall will look great when finished.

Hilton is at or near Wrigley Field status to its fans.

Even if the old barn is showing age or not cutting edge the university should be very careful with any changes

Rich people and business people already come out to Hilton in droves so what does taking away more seats and putting in suites give us? It will ruin what we have. Unless corporate sponsors stop buying tickets there is no need to put in suites.

I'd agree with the actual arena space, but no one has any sentimental feelings for the concourses, restrooms, or concessions.

The plans I saw years ago took away the inner concourse, not significant numbers of seats to add suites. As I recall, it actually added seats because the suites wouldn't go 360 but were only on one or two sides with additional seats added on the corners and ends. The vomitories were reversed to dump people from the balconies directly on to the outer concourse.

Besides, suites add another product that you can sell for much more than individual seats at the level where they are. Companies buy suites so they can entertain their clients while treating them to a game. It is much easier to wine and dine your customers in a suite than by buying them a clonecone at a concession stand.

Youre not going to take away many suites when you just remove the inner concourse.

And yes, rich people come out in droves, but that doesnt mean there's not still money on the table from the real big fish.

I have been to a lot of venues too and the worst was UNC. Hilton looks great compared to that dump. At the time, I went to MSG last year for the ISU game and that might be too nice, wow.

I just did a tour of MSG on Sunday. It was my first time there and it was pretty sweet. Got to see the locker rooms, suites, lower level, upper level and the bridge too. That place is elite.

Well, duh? I mean, I really hope nobody is having sentimental feelings towards the urinals.

This is a dead technology. At this point you take that money and pair it with a little more to install LED bowl lighting. It would be dimmable and much more energy efficient. You would very quickly pay for the difference in cost between shutters and new lighting fixtures through energy efficiency and reap the reward of energy savings for years to come.

This will be happening.

The AD will need to generate more money. I would prefer that to be done by selling premium seating, such as suites or boxes on the inner concourse, rather than significantly raising prices for my corner balcony tickets.

Hilton won't get anything until the football program is on more solid footing. An underperforming football team affects the entire athletic department. Any money spent on Hilton would be better spent helping football become a consistent bowl team.

So, Mtown, you and the rest of CF wouldn't be complaining if ticket prices doubled? You would prefer to have the inner concourse as it is?

Don't forget about the ticking time bomb that is conference realignment too.

Given the momentum of the program, and plans released in 2007 to renovate Hilton which have not been mentioned in years, will we see any construction in the near future? Having been to quite a few venues across college basketball and in sports overall, its pretty clear that Hilton needs a facelift badly, in terms of modern amenities. The main reason I can think of nothing too major being done is that the building is in a floodplain, and there have been two massive flood events in the last decade. I'm curious to know if they will continue to put money into Hilton long-term, or just let it age and build a new arena in 20, 30, or 40 years, outside the floodplain.

All I want it one upgrade. BRING BACK THE WHITE BLIMP!

That thing was awesome.

They should just vertically lower just the basketball court by 15-20 feet and surround it with thick concrete walls. Redo the entire interior so seats would be at an incline directing downwards as to appear daunting, overwhelming, and direct sound into the pit.

How much more can we really spend on FB? We've upgraded the practice facilities, we're finishing the stadium, etc. Increased staff pay might be one thing but lets save that until we actually find successful staff worth spending the money on.

We've dumped $100mil into football facilities already. Time to reward the most successful program on campus, the one generating the most excitement in the fanbase

That is like a homeless person burning $100 bills in their garbage can fire to stay warm. Nothing like taking a valuable resource and ******* it away.
