Is this the thread where @ssholes attempt to belittle our best team of all time? If so I don't like this thread. OP is a tool anyway.

Great Post. The negative posters on this site have been out of line. This is the best Iowa State basketball has ever been and as good as it ever will be. This is as good as it gets. Stability, incredible coach that is always cool calm and collected. Fun basketball and many wins plus NCAA tournament every year. Everyone should enjoy it.

Here here.

And, for the record, I think last year's team (and this year's team if it were running on cylinders) would give the Fizer/Tinsley team a run for its money. Fred would have the best of game plan. Kane v. Tinsley for alpha male in the backcourt and Ejim v. Fizer for the same in the frontcourt would be some epic matchups. And there's always Naz, lurking in that corner, ready for the dagger three...

If this is the best the overall basketball program has ever been, how do you think the partial basketball program ranks in history?

Thanks in advance.

No it's a thread where people remind you that CFH is in a whole other universe from LE. I like LE but he never got a Gameday here now did he?

I don't disagree with what you are saying, but ....the success LE had was only one year long primarily because Fizer left for the NBA. It is impossible to predict what may have happened had he stayed. No doubt ISU would have been a great team that next year, likely a FF team, so....I think you have to give LE the benefit of the doubt there. Of course, the Natty Light problem would still have existed, so.........

Don't get me wrong....I do think CFH is doing great things.....but that 99-00 team is still something to top, and a measuring stick for all ISU teams, imho.

If you are going on what-ifs, what if White comes back or Georges does not get injured?
This is as good as the program has ever been.

Um, I believe we won the Big 12, again, the year after Fizer left. Sure they burned themselves out doing it, but I'm not sure I've seen the current team leave everything they have on the floor one single night yet.
thank goodness. Why would we want a burned-out team?

As well as people using that team to knock this year's team, because it's somehow a disappointment to a number of fools out there.

I've been blasted many times, but that team was the toughest team we have ever had. Nothing has come close since. But that was 1 team 1 year a number of years ago. Still my favorite basketball team and by saying that it in NO way means this team is not good. We'll do good things this year but THAT team was special.

LE was a scumbag too by the way. Not sure why anyone still thinks he should have had any more chances than he already did. An embarrassment to the institution and he killed his kids, but MAN what a tough team.

Why is this even a debate. The original framing of the argument was the overall strength of the program, not the accomplishments of one or two years. If you want to debate who was the best team, fine. There are arguments to be made. But hindsight is 20/20, and there is no question overall the basketball program is stronger and more consistent then it's ever been assuming there are no monumental changes in the near future.

Way up there
The records of any one or two ISU teams aren't relative to this topic, the bottom line is, ISU is in line to makes its FOURTH straight tourney. Add to that the fact that we will return 6 of the top 8 (with 2 transfers incoming) and a 5th tourney is almost a given. All of this is happening in the toughest conference in the country. No disrespect to LE or TF's guys but the big 12 north/big 8 schedules they played just don't stack up. One of those guys could've coached better teams but neither had the program anywhere near the level we have it at today. Do yourselves a favor and enjoy it. Seems like too many of the pouters either weren't ISU fans during the McD days or don't remember them.

No. The bottom line is that this is so obvious a thread isn't even necessary. Everyone knows ISU basketball as a program is at an all time high and still trending up. The idea that someone needs to start an angry thread about it, makes no sense

The ****** OP didn't say this is the best the program has been and stop. It was the ****** that brought up old news. NOBODY on this board (there CAN'T be a single one) would claim any other program in our history comes close to this. I think we can debate best TEAMS (the Fizer team was balls deep in toughness), but even a mouth-breathing idiot would agree we have the best program in our history.

So if you're trying to read between the lines, the OP is a ******. Balls-deep in douchedom. And he wears an a@@ for a hat and it suits him.
