Greenberg was right. McKay took a few games to get into the swing of things. And he is a role player.... Energy guy, great post defender, aggressive on the glass, and runs the floor well. He is pretty ok on his own, but has found an outstanding role in Hoiball.

That's the thing hoiball is all about playing a role.

I'm not going to jump all over a guy for seeing a player practice once and make an assessment. We all make premature or even flat out wrong judgements. That being said, it works out incredibly well for ISU that his assessment couldn't be more false. I'm glad McKay decided to make his immediate impact at Iowa State.

Maybe Greenberg didn't realize how much a offensive rebounder/shot blocker type would mean to ISU compared to other Top 25 schools. Most of the top level schools already have one or two or five.

Ejim really got us a lot of gutsy play rebounds last year, at times pretty nasty and I'm sure annoyed opponents. I think we replaced Kane through committee and Monte getting more experienced and stronger, but we couldn't really replace Ejim without a rebounder like McKay developing.

Everybody is technically a role player by his definition. I also think it's false that we don't run any offense through him.

Kentucky is full of role players - i'll take any of them

Greenberg doesn't deserve to be bashed, he is paid to report on what he sees. He saw a player that has not played competitively in almost 2 years and was probably pretty rusty.

So what? Then he can take his medicine. If I tell you that I'm looking at a slice of pizza when it's clearly a sub sandwich I'd want to be corrected. He completely deserves to get bashed.

Very true, guys paid to talk aren't going to 100% accurate on a subject like NCAA basketball and it's players.

Look at some of the stuff Jay Bilas said about a year ago (I won't repeat it because some will get mad).

I expect Seth will give Big Mac major props going forward. I don't think he will hestitate to say he was wrong about one of the all time energy guys we have ever had in Ames.

Not if McKay didn't look like he does today. Greenberg could come out and say "Wow, McKay has transformed himself into a hell of player since i first saw him in November in practice."

The original comment was probably a coaches grapevine type of thing.

Much ado about nothing.
