I'll be there, already bought air ticket today (Southwest has a 15% Ding fare sale this weekend for Aug, Sept, and OCT). Airfares are only going to get higher and higher as we go forward with $115/barrel oil. There will be more Chapter 11's this summer also with fewer choices for air travel.
I think Vegas rooms will get cheaper as the economy gets worse, some say it is already happening. With strip rooms @$240/night average something has to give.

The '99 trip was great time and a huge tailgate by NCC and Alumni group. I wonder if the still sell beer at the stadium?

I am treating it as a vacation for the year. It's going to be great. "Hold on i need to cash in my chips before we go tailgate". I can't wait to say that.

I'd like to try and make the drive. Its about 8 hours for me. I'll do what I did when I took my road trip to California last month, and stay at cheap hotels on the boarder.

We've got a group going, too - probably Friday through Sunday.

I'm going Thursday-Sunday.

On a semi-related note, has anybody ever taken the Wanna Get Away tickets from Southwest? What's the story on that, by which I mean what's the catch that makes them cheaper? If I can get a cheap flight through them this weekend that doesn't screw me over I will, otherwise I'm getting a nonstop from IAH to McCarran through Continental. I'm fed up enough with Dallas that there's no way I'm going that route.

If anyone sees that the flights on Allegiant for Sept. are up, please let us know. I've been checking almost every day.

If someone is going to set up an event or something for the game, please let me know. It will be nice to finally meet some of the members of this forum.

I think you can only book 5 months in advance with Allegiant. So depending on when your return date is, you can probably book during this coming week.

I'm afraid it's going to be an awfully short window between the time the flight is available and the time it is sold out. I wish Allegiant would add another flight for that weekend (or a couple more!) as they would all surely sell out. A direct flight is so much nicer than having a layover, where you spend half your day traveling, even if Allegiant tries to nickel and dime you for "luxuries" that are standard with almost all airlines - picking your seat, checking bags, etc.

That being said, I'll let you know when I see the flights are up...AFTER we get our 5 tickets bought!

The girlfriend and I are going Thursday night through Monday morning. I know I shouldn't talk this way, but in case we don't go to a bowl game this year, I wouldn't want to miss the UNLV game and I advise others to make it a priority as well.

There are 4 of us going Thursday - Monday. Booked rooms at Bally's. Got tired of waiting for Allegiant to open up September, plus I know it will sell out as soon as it's available, so we booked flights on Southwest out of Omaha. R/T airfare was $246 apiece, which I thought was pretty good. I did the Alumni Association package in 1999, but I thought their price for this trip was kind of steep, especially since it doesn't include airfare. Bally's is connected to Paris, so we'll be close enough to all the activities. I can't wait!
