Can't say I agree. Baylor would of made a half courted if they would of thrown it up tonight. They were making contested 3s, they were flat out hot from 3.

BS... We have been saying that about literally every single team we play. Every team hits an outrageous amount of threes against us. Hell, Tech made 14... Something is up

These threads are so predictable. Lose a game and the world falls apart. Bottom line: you don't judge a coach on his team's performance in one game. You look at the season and you look at his tenure. On both counts, Fred hardly warrants the criticism tossed his way. Saddens me, really. Why would anyone want to coach at a school like this when you treated this way.

And for that matter, where are all the anti-Thomas posters, who had him transferring because he couldn't cut it here? I've never been impressed with people who are so quick to criticize but won't even post under their real name. Fred puts his reputation on the line, in full public view, every game. So, you want to pretend you know more than he does? At least have the same intestinal fortitude and post under your real name.

Love Hoiberg and will probably jump off a bridge when he leaves, but this loss is mainly on him. He allowed a 12-2 run to take place in crunch time without calling a timeout.

Fred just mentioned it is a team loss which is true but I'm waiting to hear him say he needs to get better at the same time especially on how to close a team out at the end - we are not good at that as well as leaving shooters open.

We were bad at closing in one game, I'd say most games we have been pretty good down the stretch though and that has been a trademark of Fred's teams the past 3.5 years.

That's why Fred is coaching and you are not, Casey. Fred preaches - and lives - by the team concept. When the team wins, it is a team victory and vice versa. But if Fred wants to take advantage of you vast experience playing and coaching D1 ball, I am sure he will look you up. After all, there are not that many people out there with credentials like yours, is there?

Yeah, our perimeter defense sucked, but even after the raining three parade, we were within four points and decided to dial it in with some 3 point chucking and lack of ball movement.

Why do we always move away from our game when any little bit of adversity hits???

Heaven help that anyone questions what Fred does. You will not find anyone that is a Cyclone fan that won't be extremely sad when he moves on from ISU, but it's OK to question his decisions in an individual game.

These are the rankings of the last six NCAA champions and where they finished in adjusted defensive efficiency ranking for the year they won the championship:

  • 2014 - UConn - 10th
  • 2013 - Louisville - 1st
  • 2012 - Kentucky - 9th
  • 2011 - Connecticut - 14th
  • 2010 - Duke - 4th
  • 2009 - North Carolina - 16th

ISU is currently 92nd. We need to be better to get where we all want to go.

We're pretty damn good but probably a pretender until we get better on D. Baylor wasn't doing anything complex on offense tonight. They made a few tough shots but most of them were due to **** poor D on our end.

D and rebounding is as much energy/effort as it is anything else. We certainly have lapses where we play lazy team D.

Drew burned all his timeouts with over 8 minutes left to play. Baylor won. Case closed.

Everyone of Drew's timeouts tonight were good. ISU would make a small from, Drew would call a timeout and stop it. Fred let Baylor go on a 12-2 run before using one of his many timeouts.

One thing I know: anyone who ******* about timeouts after a loss doesn't know **** about basketball. It's the ultra lazy way out.

Please tell us about all your basketball knowledge oh great one.

Fred let Baylor go on a 12-2 run fueled by horrid defense before calling a timeout. It does not take a genious to figure out that's not the way to do it.

You seem to be under the delusion that timeouts can play defense, or force missed 3 pointers. They can't.

Quoted for truth. God forbid.

Nobody is saying Fred is a bad coach. I get called a troll for pointing out the continued mismanagement, but it's real. I don't think that's hate rather simply discussing a topic Fred has affirmed (through his actions) is real several times over. It's unfortunate, but it's the truth.

Every coach has their flaws. What separates the elite from the good, and the good from the bad is the ability to recognize correctable mistakes and make the necessary adjustments. We get beat time and time again from unnecessary doubling yet continue to do so. Our defensive rotations are also lacking, and when coupled with the previous problem leaves our perimeter defense porous. The poor use of offensive/defensive substitutions, and mistimed substitutions when things are really going well is baffling.

Right now Fred is a good coach is greatly increased the talent level and has had a moderate amount of success. If he and our program want to take the next step, he has got to improve his in game management. What's the point of sitting on the bench if not to impact the game? I don't get it.
