so when we beat West Virginia on the road it was only because they did nothing to stop us? Same thing with osu? What about kansas? They just gave the game to us

Did those teams have an 8 point lead with four minutes left only to allow ISU to make 4 straight wide open threes in the midst of a 12-2 run?

Never said that. Timeouts are known to kill momentum. Drew did it 4 times tonight. Hoiberg let Baylors momentum last too long.

Not saying I agree or disagree with the timeout criticism, but didn't Barnes blow all of his TOs in our last road game without stopping us much? And wasn't he criticized for not having them at the end of the game when they were making a push?

we made plays in those games. Good teams would have stopped us. They didn't. So we suck because they suck.

No, but OSU did have a 4 point lead with 2 min to go and we finished on a 9-0 run.

Well according to some geniuses on here the only reason we won is because osu sucked. We could have run out the Ames middle school girls team and still won.

Uhhhh... have you seen the AMS girls team this year? Very underrated IMO. Not a huge team but they are still a great defensive rebounding team and they don't turn the ball over. They could make a deep run in March.

Scott Drew won this coaching battle IMO. As weasley as this guy is, he coaches a pretty good game. Hoiberg has been getting the better of him for a few years, but now Drew seems to have figured something out to slow down Hoiball. 70 points and went ICE COLD in the last 6 minutes. Meanwhile Drew's guys are drilling wide open 3's like they're layups. Fred's gotta learn how to coach D quick or at least hire someone who can. We caught a nice break facing 2 poor shooting teams back to back in Texas and WVU, but for every Texas and WVU there is a Baylor and OU waiting to shoot us out of the gym.

No, timeouts are hoped to slow momentum, particularly by whiny little ******* in hindsight.

It's not hindsight for me at all. It's the one thing I complain about with Hoiberg all the time, even when ISU wins. I've learned to accept the fact that he is not a timeout calling coach, and that's fine because he succeeds way more then he does not. I've said that much on here many times for the last few years. However, last night the strategy bit him in the ***.

No, but OSU did have a 4 point lead with 2 min to go and we finished on a 9-0 run.

ISU hit a two contested twos, two free throws and Hogue got a open look from three that he hit. Ford used his last timeout right after Hogue made the three. That game was not like last night. Baylor got 4 open looks from three, because our defense was lost each and every time, before Hoiberg decided to use one of his three remaining timeouts.

Baylor played an excellent game and hit the big shots. It happens. They're very, very good. Just because it's Hilton doesn't make for an automatic W. Hilton is incredibly special because by a ridiculous percentage, it does, even against some of the best teams in the country, and even when we aren't great.

No reason to handle it like a bunch of juveniles though. Definitely no reason for throwing insults at the same group of guys who you were placing on a pedestal up until game time. Yes, in hindsight, a couple of well placed time outs, more patience and defensive adjustments may have helped stem the run. But Fred has confidence in his guys, and it serves the team very well in most games. It's a hallmark of his system.

Anyway, if we win out, I think we still share with KU. The OU game is HUGE, but one step at a time. On to Kansas State.

If we win out, we

Well now... if you don't guard the three point line you will always LOSE

Like my old basketball coach used to say, basketball is only Offense... Defense and Rebounding and when you are bad in two outta three You are going to LOSE Every Time

Dreadful to NO defense and sporadic rebounding sealed our fate.....Big Problem on defensive end of the court...quoting Coach Fred

Fine, I'll congratulate Baylor for making about 10 wide open 3s. It's not hard to play well when you have as much space in game as you do in warm ups.

Not all of those 3s after the 8:00 mark were wide-open.

Also, you can't pretend open 3s are automatic while ignoring the fact that Georges missed about 4 wide-open 3s down the stretch. Sometimes basketball just comes down to making shots. Give Baylor credit; they made theirs.

I agree it sure seems like fred does not want to use a timeout to stop momentum and it really helped Baylor

This was not a unique thing for Fred at all. That is the coach he is and I accept that. However, that does not mean I won't complain the one or two times it turns out to bite him. I've mentioned it in most close wins, but it's hard to complain for long when they win. Much easier to complain when they lose.

no real urgency/toughness to finish game. Looked liked they were ready to celebrate being in first prior to the game. Especially at the approx 7 min mark when we were up 5 or so and Gaithers left the game mad. When the game started again i said Baylor is going to win since they were more determined. part of my thought about that was that the clones were uncking it up and smiling and looking like they had won. We were playing well just prior to that but afterward we did not match Baylor--they did play well. Also often Niang takes quick 3's and the people that were not (Thomas and Long) did not get the ball either not wanting it or not going after getting it. Have to get the hot players the ball. And of course the 4 straight poor bounce passes to Georges from Hogue that were to the other team. Disappointed they could not match or surpass the determination that Baylor had. That has been the problem all year long. dont know how hard they have to play or just dont.

The passing last night was really uncharacteristic for this team. 25 foot bounce passes, post feeds from the top of the key, jump passes from the corner to the high post all led to turnovers.

Georges might want to mind his inbounds passes a little more. Kenny Chery and Medford were eating him up, you know Coach Drew saw that on tape.
