I was totally stoked for last season's slate of Thursdays games. Who knew that this season will undoubtedly top last year. Find me another conference with an absolute gauntlet like what we will see Thursday. Assuming KSU and Texas win Wednesday...

  • Baylor vs West Virginia
  • Kansas vs Kansas State
  • Iowa State vs Texas
  • Oklahoma vs Oklahoma State

Mother of god - that is awesome.

Ok, someone explain to me how the seeding works. I thought I understand it, and am pumped that ISU is the 2 seed, but how did we get the 2 seed.

ISU and OU split with KU
ISU and OU split with each other
OU split with BU and ISU got swept by BU, so wouldn't that be the tie breaker?

Once again, I am excited to be a 2 seed, but this will bother me until I get an explanation on it.

All 8 teams that I expect to be playing on Thursday were ranked for at least a few weeks this season. ******* nuts.

Read any of the 15 threads about seeding or the games today.

both OU and ISU were 2-2 against the teams tied for fourth, so it goes to the teams tied for sixth.

ISU won the tie breaker over OU by sweeping #4 WVU. OU was 1-1 against WVU.

WVU won the tiebreaker over Baylor by beating #1 KU. Baylor was swept by KU.

My behindstill hurts from the pounding I took for suggesting the same thing earlier. So I'll tell you what they told me:

Because WVU and Baylor are tied the total record against BOTH teams is considered the tiebreaker. NOT the record against the team that won THEIR tiebreaker. Does that make sense?

Look at it this way, WVU and Baylor both finished fourth. Tiebreakers only matter to resolve seeding, not other tiebreakers.

Bowlsby decided that to give the Big 12 a better chance to get more teams in the NCAA tourney.

Thanks to those that weren't smart ACES about the whole thing. I don't have all day to hang out on CF, although I with I did, to read every thread. Once again, thanks for the explanation.

Love that we dont have to see Baylor until the finals if we get to that point. Texas will be a crazy tough out for our first game but I really think OSU would be there to meet us, they really need a win to get in and match up well with OU. This will be a great tournament :)

Looks like opportunity to me.

I tell ya what. It's a helluva lot more fun and interesting when you're cheering for a team that has a legit shot at winning this thing. Before a couple years ago that was only a pipe dream.

iirc, before two years ago we hadn't won a single tournament game in almost a decade.

KU won't be playing on Saturday. Most likely Baylor from the top of the bracket.

As far as the bottom of the bracket, who knows. Texas over Iowa State is a sexy pick right now, but this Texas team seems to like to under perform.

Kansas has to most likely play K State right off the bat, then Baylor WV winner? Yikes

You start at the top and work your way down to break the tie. Record against the opponent wins. When teams are tied, you used the combined record of those teams.

Both ISU and OSU were 1-1 vs. KU
Baylor and West Virginia tied for 4th. Both ISU and OU were 2-2 vs. them combined.
OSU, Texas and K-State tied for 6th. ISU was 5-1 vs. them. OU was 4-2. Therefore ISU wins the tiebreaker.
