A conference title would have been sweet, but...

We improved on our league record and conference tourney seed in a season where the Big 12 was as tough as ever. That is a tremendous accomplishment. Still trending in the right direction, both in performance and talent. Great regular season... Now the fun begins.

We are a better team at this point in the season than last years team. People have had trouble realizing that this year because most of the wins we had last year were won in epic style. However, we still had our share of inconsistencies and poor play.

Yep, this was a step in the right direction for the program. A huge step. I believe I read where this team had more conference road wins than any Iowa State team since 2001. The last 2 years the conference has been really strong too.

A second straight year where we aren't going to be sweating at all on Selection Sunday. There wasn't a whole lot of doubt in 2011 and 2012, but a little bit.

4 regular seasons where there has been far more good than bad. That has never happened in my lifetime.

On top of the bolded, we dropped a 'gimme' so it's even more impressive.

And possibly two consecutive seasons as a 3 seed in the NCAA tourney. I'll take it.

No kidding. And we are gaining the type of national reputation that helps keep the thing going. It's easy to maintain your spot as a top program in college basketball than it is to get to that spot in the first place.

When KU gets some win vacated for having an ineligible play the title is all ISU's. :plaugh:

Yep. I would have gladly signed on for 22-8 regular season, beat KU, pasted Iowa, all the road wins, second seed, top 50 wins.....

i cant say we are exactly peaking....but we are playing pretty well. Should get into the second weekend unless we meltdown...which...we can do as well.

Outstanding job boys....

I've thought all year that 12-6 would be outstanding and still do. The really cool part is I feel like all eight guys are dialed in now.
What's really great is that I feel like we almost always have one of our three bench guys go off for 12-15 or two of the guys combine for 20. In past years, we've not had a deep bench. I'm not sure if this bench is "deep" but Fred has never had 8 legit players who have all shown they are capable of dropping 15 a night. Nader seems to have random games in which he just goes off for 19, Matt has his end of the half threes and occasional 14 point games, and BDJ will do what he did tonight with 15 points and 5 boards.

This team is more fun than last year's team IMO because I honestly think this team is better, and better built for a deep run.

I dunno... that is a tough one. Seeing Ejim drop almost 50 points in a game was fun. Watching Kane operate was fun. speaking of which, and maybe I am wrong, but I think that Monte has been great driving to the hole this year because he learned from Kane.

He definitely has stepped up his aggressiveness in crucial ways, in crucial games. Starting to develop an edge.

I'm very interested to see this team play other teams who haven't seen us for the third time this season. As long as we stick with Hoiball and not heroball all will be good.

I know we have a lot to look forward to in the next few weeks, but next year should be really fun! Heading to KC on Wednesday, if it is as much fun as last year, it would be hard to say this is not the better team compared to last year. McKay makes a big difference.

It stinks that the Tech loss and blown K-State lead cost these guys a conference title but these are the growing pains you go through when building a program. It takes those games to realize you have to bring it every night. And if you don't, it will cost you.

Maybe I am misremembering, but it seems like last year we pulled out a lot of close games and we felt like it could have been worse. This year we lost a few of those and feel like it could have been better (despite a great overall record).

I'll definitely take the latter.
