What's your confidence level of beating UNI in the first game?

Like 70-30. I honestly think confidence plays a huge issue in this.

I agree with this, although I think coaching plays a huge role in getting a team confident, which is where I'm really questioning CPR.

Last year, if ISU just hangs on to beat Texas, I bet they would of ended up being a bowl team. I think that Texas game, coupled with what OU did to ISU the next week, was the death nail for last years team. Win that Texas game last year, and they probably could of also beat KU, Tech and WV.

This year, I would not be surprised to see ISU win their first 5, then get stomped by TCU and Baylor, and lose out.

Any of you guys who have 0% confidence in your team to beat a D-2 team at home, feel free to put your money where your mouth is.

I don't care what happened last year, or any other year for that matter. I will bet any one of you cash money that Iowa State wins that game.

Expecting a whole lot of nothing since everyone tends to talk a lot without backing anything up.

Disclaimer: I'm in no way shape or form rich, so I will take multiple bets but I want to keep the total under $500. Thanks for playing.

Chances are pretty good. From what I gather they lose a lot of key players. That, and the desperation in the program after losing the previous FBS games, I'll say 75% chance of winning.

My confidence in winning? 0

Confidence is earned and is based on progression. The progression of this program has been a downward spiral. Hope Paul proves me wrong, but I won't be holding my breath.

I don't know about that. I think CPR got his last pass in 2014. There were signs that the offense was getting better with a young defense. I think this year is his last chance to at least make an improvement. I don't think it will be enough to get to a bowl game though.
What signs were there that the offense was getting better? I think even in 2008 a lot of you were saying the same thing at points in the season with Chiziks team. Last game of the year we hung 3 on TCU. In the month of November, the only game our offense looked okay was against Texas Tech, and they have one of the worst defenses in all of cfb last year.

In on Tailg8er bet before his quota is used up..

Last year everybody said that when Farniok went down in the NDSU the o-line fell apart.
Now Farniok is gone, and there is nothing that says the O-line will be better.

Hopefully the O-line starts to look like an O-Line, and not a bunch of trim tall guys of the past couple of years.

Defensively those JC's better be really really good..

Its a very realistic expectation for ISU to start out 5-0 or 4-1, but when it comes to football, any expectation for any kind of success has been historically met with reality.

Although it should be 95%, after the last two years it is now 'seeing is believing', so I'm at 60/40.

I don't really know how you can be confident to bet $500 on Iowa State. You must be really lose with your money.

I've lost 1 bet in the last 5 years if that tells you how 'lose' I am with my money. If you're so sure why don't you make that 2?

I'm the tightest tightwad I know. If it's such a silly bet for me to make, where is everybody bucking up to take it??

95%. I really like this team. A year can make a big difference. Homer? Sure. Being competitve with texas and K-State are good. Beating Iowa at Iowa is great. There are a lot of positive from last year even though most don't want to acknowledge them. We will be motivated for sure.

Alright, you're in! How much??

I should note I'll only bet established posters (at least like 200 posts).

So does this mean you're in?
Of course not. I don't have to justify my lack of confidence by betting with someone on CF. This team has not done anything yet to instill any confidence in me, even in beating UNI. Of course we CAN beat UNI, but I have nearly no confidence in predicting that it will actually happen.
