What's your confidence level of beating UNI in the first game?

Just think about it, ISU finally gets the SEZ done by spending a butt load of money and they lose the dedication game for the SEZ to UNI with the biggest home crowd of all time on hand to witness it. It's the most ISU thing to do ever. 61,000 in-person nut punches?!? Fate won't miss that chance. And you just know it'll be in the most heartbreaking fashion possible

Just like how it's now destiny that ISU plays UAB next season in basketball and wins by 36.

UNI beating ISU in football is far from a nut-punch. It's like your regular pair of underwear at this point, it actually feels normal. The ISU nut punch is now stupid, overused, and incorrectly used.

Based on the current roster (which I'm sure needs updating) & the latest depth chart from last fall, the interior D-line & linebackers lost quite a bit. Who takes over those positions?

Quarterback will either be JUCO Dalton Demos or Illinois Transfer Aaron Bailey (4 Star out of HS, got caught in coaching change) Both are dual-threat guys as UNI is moving to a no-huddle Tempo based offense.

Running back will be by committee. Kansas Transfer Darrian Miller, who was the primary backup last year. Barkley Hill and Rutgers Transfer Savon Huggins who was the NJ HS player of the year his senior year.

Receiver is a total mystery as there are only 6 listed on the current roster. The offensive line was a mess last year so hopefully that improves, brought in two or three JUCOs.

Defensive line is a really deep group so I don't have many concerns there. Jared Farley will step into Jake Farley's role at LB and that group shouldn't miss a beat.

The secondary is special. Two returing AA corners and an all-league safety. Four or five really highly regarded athletes competing for the other safety spot.

1st team All-American kicker and 3rd year punter coming back.

The talent is fine, its just a matter of how quickly the offense goes in...

I'm not entirely confident or anything either, but I'm not sure people realize that if they are 0% confident Iowa State wins then they are 100% confident UNI wins.

I have zero confidence in an ISU win. The team has shown me nothing in the previous two years that says that it is physically able, or properly prepared, to compete at the Big 12 level.

That said, I am not going to bet against my own team. I'm not sure if you're trying to throw us into some kind of "A Modest Proposal" situation here or what, but it's not cool.

I'm not trying to throw anyone into any situation. I'm not forcing anyone to do anything.

I understand having little confidence in the team. 0 confidence in your team in a HOME game against a lower division team that lost a lot (including their best player) does boggle my mind a bit. I can even understand people who think UNI will win, even though I don't agree with it.

I'm just saying, if I have ZERO confidence that something will happen, I'd be ecstatic if someone offered me a bet on it.

Plenty of people have ignored my offer & that's perfectly fine, totally understand not wanting to bet it for whatever reason.

UNI is installing a completely new offense and will be starting a new quarterback (I don't think there's any chance of Kollmorgen winning the job). That said, the defense will be very good again and the secondary is outstanding.

I really believe Iowa State wins a low scoring game. Something like 21-17 or 17-14.
Agreed. The defense will be lights out, probably better than our defense.

Interesting point here. If you look at the largest crowds in stadium history, ISU lost in front of the top 7. Two of those losses were to UNI.

Well I was going to put down $1000 that we lose to a D-2 team, at home, but since you're not a high roller I guess I'll keep my bet to myself. I hear Upper Iowa has a decent team this year too... would have been a good game to bet on.

As far as FCS UNI... 100% loss and I'll gladly accept that I am wrong, but I won't be.

Any of you guys who have 0% confidence in your team to beat a D-2 team at home, feel free to put your money where your mouth is.

I don't care what happened last year, or any other year for that matter. I will bet any one of you cash money that Iowa State wins that game.

Expecting a whole lot of nothing since everyone tends to talk a lot without backing anything up.

Disclaimer: I'm in no way shape or form rich, so I will take multiple bets but I want to keep the total under $500. Thanks for playing.

OMG sounds like the '85 Bears. Well, that does it for me. Forfeit the season.

The current roster lists one DL over 280#. Does UNI play a 3-4? Who are the other linebackers going to be and is Mark Farley done having children yet?

Do we have the talent to win? yes. Do we have the coaching? no.

If UNI wins, fire Paul immediately and put Mangino in charge the rest of the season. That way we get a free test of his abilities without taking a 50/50 shot between him and someone new at the end of the season

I don't think size matters. The ISU Oline will let people through.

For whatever reason, we seem to come out and **** the bed the first game of the season and then rebound. We lose to NDSU and then lose in the final seconds against a very good K-State team and then go on the road and beat Iowa.

If we can play focused like we did in those games, we will win. If we don't, we will lose again.

Not sure why I feel good but I think Rhoads knows he is coaching for his job and will come out and we'll go 4-1 in our first 5.

I agree with this, although I think coaching plays a huge role in getting a team confident, which is where I'm really questioning CPR.

Last year, if ISU just hangs on to beat Texas, I bet they would of ended up being a bowl team. I think that Texas game, coupled with what OU did to ISU the next week, was the death nail for last years team. Win that Texas game last year, and they probably could of also beat KU, Tech and WV.

This year, I would not be surprised to see ISU win their first 5, then get stomped by TCU and Baylor, and lose out.

I'd take that in a heart beat.
