@HowardBeck: Didn't get this into today's story, but plugged-in source considers Alvin Gentry the favorite to coach Bulls. "The guy I'd put my money on."

@HowardBeck: Follow-up on Bulls/Gentry: Hoiberg remains primary target, but there's skepticism they can land him.

This isn't inside knowledge or anything like that but I work at a sports media company out East and the general thought around here is that Fred's heart condition and whether he'd be able to hold to an entire NBA season may be a major concern for the bulls. Doesn't mean he's not at the top of their list but it's definitely a factor.

What? Guys pulling guns in the locker room over gambling debts is nothing compared to having to answer calls from Ames PD at 2am about noise complaints. Guns are fun, noise complaints is the grind.

I personally think that a deal is already either in the works or has been completed and we'll hear about it soon.

How do you describe "soon" They have to get rid of the coach they currently have. I'm not sure, with him being a hot property in coaching, they are just going to let 2 years and $9 million walk out the door. I would think they have to work that deal out before they start inking contracts for a new coach.

If I were Fred, this would be a huge concern of mine. I imagine it's probably the lone issue honestly.

Why are you posting these? In another post, you made it seem on good authority that Fred and the Bulls was a done deal.

Here's the main reason why I'd put my money on fred leaving. He hasnt commented on the NBA situation at all. If he definitely wanted to coach Iowa State next year he would do what Kevin Ollie did and just publically come out and say "No I will be here again next year".

Of course he's not going to comment on a specific NBA team, but the fact that he hasn't come out and said he's coming back (at least to me) means he's AT LEAST 50/50 gone, and I would say the chances are a lot higher than that.

Because that happens so often in the NBA. There's so much more BS to worry about in the college game.

His "rumor" must have not been that great...

Every year there has been NBA rumors with Fred, and every year he has remained tight lipped. He is also recovering from open heart surgery.

Or, he's still recovering from having his chest cut open. Do people forget about this? The dude just had heart surgery. Nobody who is writing all the crap that is out there has ever said anything about what Fred is thinking, because they don't have a clue. There are a few of us who have pretty close ties to the situation and do know, which is why I'm tired of reading about this crap daily. The Bulls wanting Fred seems to be all that matters.

I'm done until this **** is over.

Google "nba gun charges". There might be more BS to worry about, but it's a lot less serious bs.

Has anyone in the local media even tried to reach out to Fred. I am sure he won't comment, but I wonder if anyone has attempted. I would think I would have seen at least one, tried to reach Fred but he wasn't available to comment article by Randy Pete.
